Hi Confusius,

New models are generally released in the Reveals that come out quarterly. "When" is not something that we can tell for sure until a model is in and passes QC.

Sal - Thanks so much! Never expected to hear from you directly. Very exciting. I will check the Reveal section of your website regularly, in addition to this thread. I stay away from social media and pleased that you didn't say "On facebook."

Thanks again,

I believe about 2/3rds of the Spyderville community is on "pins & needles" in anticipation of the C-60 Ayoob Sprint Run. I'm about as anxious as the next man for this Sprint Run to be released. However if they need more time to be assured of the finest quality possible I can always wait with no problem.

I got a feeling that the year 2022 is going to be a year in which we will be seeing more past models back in the limelight again. I hope the C-60 sets the stage for many to return.

I hope you're right, JD. I like the trend we've been seeing with old models coming back for sprint runs. The dodo, poliwog, rock lobster, phoenix etc.

Hoping 2022 brings us Swicks and Ayoobs, along with a few more discontinued surprises.

When This Sprint Run C-60 Ayoob hits the shelves I do believe it will set the stage for more models from that era to be in demand. The Designs of many of these older models from the late 90s/early 2000s are still well loved>> and when you combine that with newer/better blade steels it's a formula for Spyderco to resurrect many of these older genius designs.

Lately I've even been wondering what a JD Smith model would be like with "MagnaCut" or any of the other new blade steels.

I'm really hoping they made the change to screw construction for this steel.

oh man... i didn't even notice. i don't understand why any knives are even made without screws anymore, so i never think to check.

It looks like they slightly changed the shape of the thumb ramp and added jimping as well.

It could be pin/screw construction, they look a lot like pins from the presentation side. If you look at a lot of older models from this generation they were made that way (Rock Lobster for example).

My original has jimping, but the new one looks to have more of a prominent top edge at the top of the thumb ramp. That'll make carrying it tip down such more for those who already dislike the way the jimping scratches your hand going into your pocket.

that's how my pac salt is as well. i'm just hoping along with you. if this thing comes out any time soon, and/or is priced too high, it won't matter for me though. i'll have to watch it come and go.
