The GB1 is the best to open, as it is rock solid being a heavy solid knife.

G10 para3 is next

Oddly the Pingo is a treat as it’s back to old school two hand opening which takes me back to before Spyderco ( yes I am older than Spyderco :shush )
Im a vegetarian as technically cows are made of grass and water.

PM2. The geometry for middle-finger flicking is just flawless. To the point that it's not even a cool trick anymore, but a foolproof and swift way to open the knife.

It's my favorite to close, too. If the ergos in use were as good as the open/close ergos, it would be tough for me to justify ever trying a different model. But there are several models, most notably the Millie, that have it beat for actual cutting.

Great pick! Mine is probably the smoothest backlock I have.

Military CQI with 52100 -- Clacks open with authority, wonderful.
Delica/Endura very familiar daily use and comfortable sound. Super smooth with Gunny Glide.

PM2/Para 3 - boring,,, lost interest.

GB1 is indeed great.

From the knives I habe I really like the feel of the Schempp Bowie followed by the k390 PM2.

But I also like the very strong feel of the Urban - gives a very safe feeling (no, not glass smooth or such).

I feel the new Tuff would be a good candidate, just not out of the box (the same is actually true also for the Bowie)

Definitely the Military. That huge blade just flies out ready for action. The liner clicks intro place, and I’m ready to cut. The bigger the knife, the more satisfying it is to open.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Unfortunately, my Native 5 LW doesn’t. At least for me, the lack of liners of any kind really take away that feeling, and transmit some of it to the handle, which makes the whole endeavor a far less satisfying sensation.

Are the linerless G10 Native 5s any better with regard to this? Honestly, my LW feels too “plastic” for me, and I’d hate to buy a G10 model and not be satisfied with the nature of the action.
For me, the N5 is very similar to the Chaparral in opening. I don't try to flick any open, just a slow, easy thumb roll.

3rd on the RockJumper. Smoothest back lock I've used. UKPK, Manix 2, Native (Chief), Sage 5 LW. The bushing makes for an amazing action.

...Para 2 has the beautiful sound, also opens with any finger.

Edit; not pinky finger of course.
... pinky in a reverse grip?
Good thought. I just tried it, and it works.

Most fun are the Subvert and Magnitude. The heavy blade and bearings are just a joy to use.

Smoothest is hands down the Drunken, fit and finish are superb.

Sound alone goes to the PM2 and Yojimbo. I’m smiling right now just thinking of the “Clack” they make!

I'm sure the pivot action is nice but my thumbs can never lower themselves to use a thumb stud again 🤣

When CRK start using thumb holes they might get some of my money.

CF fluted Native 5. I can flick it easily but the thumb roll yields a really good and satisfying sound. I love the N5 LW but I think that the CF creates a different acoustic.

I can only hope to one day have the chance to try the fluted Ti and see/hear how it opens and locks !
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Regarding CRK, I absolutely loved the Umnumzaan, until the PM2 kicked it down the road. The PM2 also kicked the Superleaf down the road, which is another story. If I had them now, I would keep all of them.

There is something about the Subvert. Heavy blade and a thick Ti linerlock. Super smooth. Nice click.

And I like the Manix 2. The CBBL and the backlock. The CBBL is always a pleasure to open. Always smooth and has this hydraulic feeling. The backlock just chunks locked like no other knife, I ever opened.

Para 3- I can’t resist flicking it.
Para 2- like the Para 3 but more satisfying when open. It has a different feel than the para 3 flick
Manix 2 g10- it had its own special click and smoothness to it that really compliments how great it feels in hand. I really enjoy flicking it closed as well. It closes smoother than any other knife I own
Just one more knife...

The Smock was the first model to my mind. The flipper tab and the push button lock are incredibly satisfying! I love the way that both of my Native 5's snap into the locked position! The Manix 2 is also incredibly smooth but locks open so solid and fluently!

My favorite non Spyderco's would be my Benchmade Bugout in M390 with aluminum scales and my ZT 0452CF!!!

The clack of my Para 3 52100 is a great sound. No other knife sounds like it.
The M4 Sage 5 is a gem to open and close

4th on the Rockjumper! It is possibly my smoothest-opening backlock, next to my Pacific Salt SE. The G-10 Police 4 also is very smooth and I love how it clacks open.

Autonomy 2 is amazing; it opens in the blink of an eye. The blade is so fast you can hardly see it, yet it doesn't feel out-of-control like some autos.

My Swayback is Sebenza-level smooth and frictionless.

I like how the CBBL feels when opening my Maxamet Manix LW.

S90V CF Shaman. Something about the CF vs the standard G-10, makes the most satisfying double click of anything I own.
