I better get this odd my chest and if I set anyones hair on fire I sincerely apologize. I’m just going to ask questions maybe someone can answer them for me . Should the Forum knife be a knife affordable for all of it’s members ? Should we exclude Forum members requesting a knife designed for a select group on the Forum ? Why can’t we as members of this Forum request the steel that Spyderco invested so much in to share with the Spyderco community and honor Sal and Eric ? They always do so much for us why can’t we as members show our appreciation to them ? Respectfully to everyone and also to Sal and Eric .MG2

Out of the loop here. Which steel is that?

I don't have much hair left to be set on fire these days, so I am going to say, that that is a very fair suggestion. I could well imagine one of the smaller / simpler / cheaper models in Spy27. Urban, UKPK, D'fly, Delica, Rockjumper ... there is enough of them.

It just crossed my mind that the combination of a hand filling handle, no finger choil and no ricasso (similar to Caribbean), sheepsfoot blade and a higher wear resistance steel would make for a great utility blade for certain purposes ...

Thank you MG2.

That is similar to S30V but more resistant to rust, yes?
I would LOVE to see a SPY27 with Blurple G10.

As much as I am constantly whining at Sal to make the DAMAUKPK, I feel the Blurple-27 would be a great choice for forum knife.

There are many here on the Forum that are much more knowledgeable than I am . I believe I read that it is closer to CPM35V but once again that may not be correct answer and do not want to mislead anyone . MG2

SPY27 is a highly tweaked Cobalt based steel. Think of VG-10, powdered and highly tweaked by Crucible's Metallurgist.

Not exactly opposed to this... :smirk
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I think the only 'problem' with the Spy27 in an affordable smaller knife is that the steel appears to be quite expensive when I for example look at the prices difference of a say Para 3 LW in BD1N and Spy27. Still - I do think that Spy27 would be the best choice here ...

SPY27 EDC fixed blade. Something smaller than a mule. ( think Giant mouse GMF1 size )

No Handle material but a laser engraved tang with “Spyderco Forum 2022”

It’s time for a Fixed Blade Forum Knife
