SpydieChef question

#1

Post by Soanso McMasters »

Just received my SpydieChef and it’s awesome! I noticed when disengaging the frame lock bar it clicks a bit with just a touch of grabby resistance where the lock bar meets the back of the blade for lockup. Is this an issue? Will it just wear in with use? Thanks all!

I've had my Chef since January 2020. It also exhibits the behavior that you described. It hasn't been an issue for me.

Mine hasn't broken in with use, but then again, mine isn't a heavy user.

Mine had lockstick out of the box. It went away as I used it.

I think probably 50ish percent of knives I've purchased have had a small amount of lock stick out of the box. It generally goes away as the lock surfaces wear into each other. If it's very bothersome you can sharpie the lock face to reduce it.

A little graphite from a pencil at the lock face might help

Mine had the same "click" when the lock was disengaged. It has improved a lot over 2 years, and the action has become as smooth as glass. So satisfying.

I may be in the minority of people who find lock stick on a liner lock to be a good thing. Less likely to slip or fail.
