#1

Post by TazKristi »

The MT28P2, Mule Team™ 2 Straight Spine CPM SPY27™ will go live on Thursday, 2-Feb at 09:00 am MST.

The MT28P2 is STANDARD PRODUCTION – not a limited run, so there will be no limits and more to come.

The MTSH2 Mule Team 2 Boltaron Sheath and MTGBK Mule Team G-10 Handles will also be available for purchase separately.

We appreciate your continued interest and support!

Sheaths and Scales are currently in stock.

  • Mule Team SPY27 (MT28P2): $60.00
  • G-10 Scales (MTGBK): $44.95
  • Boltaron Sheath (MTSH): $40.00
  • Leather Sheath (MTLSH): $40.00
  • UPS Ground Shipping: $13.00 (orders under $150)
It's worth noting the MTSH boltaron sheath will NOT work with the MT28P2. Its sheath is the MTSH2, as I noted above. ;)

Thanks. Realized that. Updated the post. Perhaps the description for MTSH Boltaron sheath should say that it does not work with MT28P2 and the MTSH2 Boltaron sheath does not work with the other Mules.

Will the MTSH2 sheath be in stock when MT28P2 goes on sale?

And while on this sheath subject. :cheap-sunglasses

What are the chances Kristi, that we can get you to, in the future. Stock a Boltaron sheath at Spyderco :bug-red-white that fits the Halpern flat scales? (For non-'2' Mules) :thinking

Nice. I have the SPY27 Mule, but I don't have a straight Mule! Tempted.

Question:

As regular production, available only from the Spyderco Factory Outlet, or from dealers also?

That is a great price for the knife. It’s a good steel from a great company that you can buy any time to put your own scales on it. Great for gifts.

It'll be nice to have a balanced steel to compare/contrast with. So far, all I have are Rex76 and M398, which are edge retention monsters.

That straight spine is really visually appealing! I didn’t think I needed any more fixed blades for work (already have the Magnacut and M398 mules along with countless machetes, etc), but now I’m thinking maybe three is the magic number for mules 🤔

$60 is a awesome price. Thanks Spyderco Team

Can see me buying a few to put handles on for others.
(Don't make mules for people as don't get enough blades of the numbered drops)

The Spyderco website now shows the Boltaron Sheath (MTSH2) for Mule Team 2 SPY27 (MT28P2) for $40.00 not $20.37.

I understand the need to differentiate the SPY27 production Mule from the limited runs, but the accessory incompatibility is a bit of a bummer. I'm trying to figure out my preferred handle and sheath options for my Mules. Only have two so far, but planning to get this one, and subsequent models like the T15 and AEB-L. It would have been nice if the production Mule design distinguished itself in some way that didn't alter the profile so much.

Is the leather sheath compatible with both?

I'm definitely warming up to it. We give up a bit of tip strength for a tip that pierces better. SPY27 toughness is decent for its 'steel neighborhood' at what, 8-9 ft lbs, so I wouldn't expect tip breaks unless abused. Visually, reducing the area of the blade makes it look more butt heavy, but some folks like big butts (and they cannot lie).

Hopefully this will reduce the demand on the unique mules and the program can return to something closer to Sal’s original intent.
