1st Mule Team purchase: Tried to give me a heart attack

#1

Post by tcarltonw »

I'm so glad to have finally have the opportunity to be apart of the Edgucation! But go'lee if I didn't dang near have a heart attack!!! Website was moving slow so I was sure at&t throttled my speed at the worst possible time! When the link finally loaded MT33 was no where to be seen! Once I found it and added two to my cart(all the while having to wait on a painstakingly long load time) it kicked me back with the need to log-in to my acct once again! After what felt like a 5 hours and 15 prompts later I was at the purchase screen and the only prompt in-screen was the cancel order button AND I almost fn pushed it! Luckily my ninja like reflexes stopped a millimeter away, scrolled down, and Thank you baby Jesus *The Order Button*!!

I look forward to sharing information and probably too many pictures with you guys.

Thank you again Spyderco team for making this possible!

Also my first mule purchase, and although I was anticipating the slow site, I wasn't anticipating getting to the order confirmation page and having it time out before the transaction was completed...three separate times. I knew the problem wasn't on my end because everything else was running fine, but it still raised the blood pressure. After getting the order processed on the fourth attempt, and feeling quite pleased with myself, it then occurred to me that maybe I'd just triple charged my card, and although I figured Spyderco wouldn't let me buy six mules, I didn't really want three sheaths or scale sets. But the concern was unfounded--only one charge when I checked my card's transaction history. I think for the next mule team release I'm going to do like I do for the really popular BladeHQ Spyderco exclusives and have mulitple windows open and set up to purchase. I've found it's often quicker to retry the transaction from the beginning rather than trying to back out from a timed out page (which probably just jams up the site even worse, but when you're trying to buy a knife, it's every man for himself. At least no one gets trampled).

I'm happy for you my man ! Purchasing my first Mules helped me learn that I had what it takes to make complete knives. Making the handles is my favorite part, but now I have a whole universe of stuff to learn and improve on.

I'm sure it'll be the same for you ! Cheers,
Robin.
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Robin.
I appreciate it! I've been slowly gathering tools that I'll need to fit them with handles/modify them. I imagine I'll have plenty of questions and try to pick yalls brains a bit along the way.

A couple thoughts:
1. Either Spyderco made one heck of a lot of these Rex76ers or,
2. There wasn't as much interest as I thought there'd be.
I started precisely at 11am EST and after waiting on the site with every "continue" click, I finally got my two after about 8 painful minutes. I see they're still available, so I tortured my for nothing. Oh well, all in all, it was fine and dandy.

First Mule here too, first Spyderco at that! I really want the REX T15, but I’m ecstatic to know I got my order in for this one. I missed the last drop due to an illness. Now I got one! I can’t wait to try this one out. I have a feeling collecting these are slightly addictive 😁.

My first attempt was almost my last - mt35 magnacut. SMH it wouldn’t even let me log into my account. Wasn’t able to get it but I got over it and now have two mules- mt36 and mt38.

Temporarily put my mules away cause I got tired of my wife saying do you really need 5 knives on you. MULE - K294 and AEB-L (keep returning to this mule cause it’s awesome)

What’s the best way to find out when a Mule Team becomes available for purchase?

Is there a notification system at the outlet store? Or do alert threads pop up?
