Scales with lanyard hole?
Scales with lanyard hole?
Anyone know of mule scales that support a lanyard? Having trouble finding one.

You could always add a hidden lanyard like the 3d printed scales.

hidden lanyard hole is best imho

Any pointers to what you all mean by that?

Re: Scales with lanyard hole?
There are some printed scales with a hidden lanyard hole…
If you want a lanyard hole it would not be hard to drill one in any scales you buy. Just drill from one side with One scale removed and then put the scale back on and do the other side through the hole of the one side already drilled.
Be sure to clamp the scales on to the blade tight for the first drill hole with one scale missing.
PM me if you need a hand or better instructions….

In addition to the 3d print models created by forum members (and to drilling your own scales), Hazy Design Studios does mule scales with lanyard holes.

Hazy Design Studios was the winner here. Real high quality. Doesn't quite fit the same in the boltaron sheath (it's smaller), but I like it a lot.
Re: Scales with lanyard hole?
Couldn't you just drill holes into whatever scales you have to match up with whichever hole you want to use for a lanyard? Even the hidden style could be done by modifying the factory/Halpern scales.

Hm. I'm guessing a G-10 crack, which would be rare, could result from a dull bit, an overly aggressive downfeed, or possibly a bit with a smaller than usual web. However, I'd have zero fear of cracking G-10 with a center cutting end mill bit run at a high speed. Especially a 4-flute. They're not expensive. Would give you an exceptionally clean hole. Be certain to give the G-10 a backing of some sort while drilling: plywood or what have you.
