We also have a "production Mule Team" in the works that we'll keep in stock all of the time. Same handle, slightly different spine (a bit more straight) to easily tell the difference, but same handle shape and will fit the same sheaths.

Nice!! Hmm...wonder what it'll look like?

But Sal said "a bit more straight," not straight, so maybe:

This drops the point a little, but starts to look original:

OK, last one for the night:
Well, sort of! The new straight spine has an interesting look, reminds me of a person who's thin on top but big below the beltline. I'm saying the handle:blade ratio favors the handle.

If you sharpened the spine instead of the edge, you'd have a Mule P'Kal!

It's GREAT that SPY27 goodness is on tap in this size knife, and with a do it yourself approach. Good work Spyderco!

While we're on the topic, what ARE the advantages of a straight spine over the leaf shape? Is it just piercing ability?

I find they stay in whatever material you are cutting unsupported a little better than a leaf blade of an equivalent length. Just my experience. That tip just maintains contact better for me. I’ve come to prefer it in longer blades over the leaf blade.

I'm glad someone pointed out the SS. I thought it was a typo, lol. Gonna try to pick one up to compare how differently the blades cut. Love my Spy27 MT28.

I've just been jumping everywhere since I've read that.
That + starting to finally start to make knives (not just handles), I'm in heaven (and soon in over my head).
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Be careful. Every time I think I've got one part of knife making under control, another one comes up. Then I go back to one I thought I had already learned, and learn a whole bunch of new stuff about it. If you're like me, this journey is likely to occupy the rest of your life. ;)

Love the profile on this production mule.
I tend to not be too picky and enjoy lots of blade shapes (though I do like to compare the tiniest pros and cons anyway), but I’m fond of this straight spine and pointy tip the same way I like the upswept clip point Moran.

I also had this vision of a handle pop into my head that I’d kill to have made one day or eventually make it myself. The latter would be a little ways and a lot of practice off, though!
