Magnacut Mule Box Date Codes: KU & LU

I got mine 2 days ago and have a new code to add. AU (gold baby) Also noticed the white color on the box end flap as well as the warning labels were different, it's a sticker on the AU version.

Ahhhh, you are right. Lol, I musta grabbed the wrong box when I checked and didn't notice it was the wrong one. Just double checked and they are both KU.

If I recall from another discussion, it's a month/year code. K=11, U=21. So it may be that the LU one was finally finished in December. Remember, there aren't 1000 being run in parallel for all production steps, so there are bound to be some that spill over into another month.

For the AU code on the s45vn, that would mean it was made a few months before release, so not sure if this holds up across the board for mules.

I only have 1 other Mule and will check the box to see if the letter code aligns close as to release month. EDIT: My Zmax Mule is FU, (F=6, June) so I think the above holds. Also, checked a few other older boxes, and the second letter does indeed go backwards through alphabet the older the knives are.

True, and there's also the fact that the month in the date code is the month in which the knife was packaged, not necessarily the month in which it was manufactured.

I threw away my Mule's box shortly after getting the knife out of it and never did look at the date code. Ignorance is bliss???
