Leather sheath is back in stock but it’s now $40 (instead of $30) + $13 shipping. All the awesome pictures in this thread made them raise the price…lol. Should have just purchased one from the beginning. Oh well.
it's the new year. all prices raise with spyderco after the new year.

After not happy with a local guy to make a sheath , I got a txt from a friend who just had a custom sheath made for a Ti Leatherman . He is going to hook me up with him soon . His work is very elaborate but told friend just want a simple pouch style . He told he will make anything I want . So will wait until I can have a conversation with my knife on hand . MG2

Sunday buddy stopped by and making progress for a Mule sheath . The guy who is going to do it wants to catch up before I take it to him . His real occupation is rebuilding magnetos for vintage vehicles . Jay Leno is one of his customers . Very excited this project is moving on . MG2

I spent some quality time with my 6 year old daughter on the weekend and slapped together a quick lefty sheath. It had been years since I had my leather tools out and I forgot how much I missed it.

I decided to make myself another one as a righty and took my time with it a bit more. A slightly different design and still far from perfect but it will function great for what I need it for. It still needs a good coat of oil to finish it off.

I have a couple more simple designs in mind and have a half dozen more mules that need sheaths so I may just keep the tools out for a while. And, I may even start carving and tooling some of them along the way.

Nothing quite like a one of a kind self handled blade in a one of a kind hand tooled leather sheath.

Looks great!
I may need one but set up for deep carry and scout carry with a lanyard for positive draw.

Ok, now I am getting a lot happier with my finished product. I really like this much smaller version but may stitch on a small keeper strap and snap around the handle to keep it secured.

Ok, I revised my last sheath a bit and I think I am finally happy with this one.

I cut the recess a little deeper so the handle sits a bit tighter and the overall blade sits about a quarter inch deeper.

Second, I added a keeper strap with a #20 snap and a little tab to easily pop it open with my thumb.

Just wearing it around the house tonight and it feels good. Sits a bit high on my hip but doesn't rub or get in the way when sitting down. I will have to take it out in the bush for a few trips to see how I like it in real use but overall I am very happy.

Now, colored versions in blue, green, and purple to match some of my other scales.

Thanks, it has been lots of fun getting familiar with my leather tools again. And now, I have a half dozen new sheaths for my Mules. These are my 3 favorites so far.

Nice work. I have tried making a couple sheaths and know how hard it is to get the stitching as even and good looking as yours. The tan on the leather is nice too, buff but not too shiny. And then there's the tools and snaps, not enough can be said about proper retention. Thanks for sharing.

So I just got my SRS13/SUS405 Mule today (my first, YAY!), and was disappointed to find that the Halpern scales I ordered for it don’t fit. Well, the scales line up perfectly and I love the aesthetic of the blue with the San Mai, all that jazz, but the barrel spacers don’t fit through the holes in the tang. I’m a little confused as to why, since the example photos on Halpern’s website show the various scales installed on THIS model (I guess they got an early run of them to use for display purposes and fit-up), which makes me wonder if I’m doing something wrong or simply got the wrong size spacers. Anyone else having trouble getting the handle scales on their new Mule? Is it an issue of this one being made in Seki rather than Golden? Thanks for any feedback y’all!

it does have a texture to it. if you look at their g10 scales, you can see the texture better. it's the same, but i prefer the feel of micarta and i'm guessing the texture feels better on micarta.
with the shape of the handle, i found that paracord wouldn't stay in place during use. this handle is much more comfortable.
