What tools do you use to transform your mule into your own unique knife?
This weekend I used…
Sharpie marker
Clamps
Mosaic pins
Ironwood blanks
Band saw
Drill press
Slow cure epoxy
Belt grinder
Hand sand paper
Axe wax
Thanks, Rich

Re: What tools do you use to transform your mule??
Mainly just a Dremel, drill with flap wheel sanding attachments and a disk sander.
Clamps and the rest of the stuff hand tools like files and saws.
Have just bought a metal saw that will do 90o like a band saw. Hopefully a belt sander in the not too distant future.
Must say I have been buying a fair bit of materials like scales in several timber’s - G10 and resin, G10 liners, mosaic pins, brass and copper pins and lanyard tubing to build up a selection of goods to use as I see fit for each handle.
Enjoying the journey I must say.
2 great items
The Dremel is my go too for more and probably my most used tool for grinding/sanding scales to shape and cutting pins
A knife vice was a recent purchase that has helped with ease of sanding immensely

We're like 2 peas in a pod. Not sure what I would do without my Dremel tools! I have one just to use with the flexible shaft/pencil-grinder and one set in a router fixture. The little sanding barrels I buy in bags of 100 or so.standy99 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 6:54 amMainly just a Dremel, drill with flap wheel sanding attachments and a disk sander.

If I had a dollar for everything I have used the Dremel for in the last 20 years I would be rich. Have so many attachments from 20 years also.
Find the new cutting disks with the attachment a lot better than the old screw held ones.
Flex shaft I haven’t tried but will be looking now

I'm working mostly with a bench vice, clamps and a knife. I have a Dremel that helps a lot too. The rest is epoxy, pins and hand sanding.

I keep mine hung up with a bungee cord, it make for easy access.
Bench is quite messy since I actually got to spend some time making handles this weekend!
