Hardness of Z-Max Mule?
Does anyone know what the RC hardness is on the Z-Max Mules? Maybe Sal has a number he can give us...

Photo on my phone of a mule and the HRC tester. Sent to me by a prominent steel tester. It will possibly vary of course.

Re: Hardness of Z-Max Mule?
I conducted Rockwell testing on Z-max mule and its was 68.3 in average.
Re: Hardness of Z-Max Mule?
Considering Larrin's data on toughness testing I think around 68 HRC would be the optimum regarding edge stability.
Everything above 68.5 HRC for Z-Max would increase edge retention a bit but at the cost of less edge stability.
So, I am happy if Spyderco does heat treat this one to 68.3 HRC.

Re: Hardness of Z-Max Mule?
Anyone come across any more hardness measurements of the Z-Max mule?
