Liners - Halpern scales

Anyone by chance know where you can get liners that would work with halpern scales?

Will the hardware sent with Halpern scales work if you add a liner?

The hardware oughta have enough threads to add thin liners, but I wonder how the knife might fit into the Spyderco Boltaron sheath or a tight-fitting kydex sheath with the added thickness. Just something to keep in mind.

Years ago I removed the coating on an Ontario RAT-3 knife and it rattled in the hard plastic sheath. It seems that small differences in thickness can affect the retention.

I found some 5"x 10" x 1/32" of G-10 sheets on Amazon. 5 pack of red, blue, white, yellow and black sheets for $26.00

I found them too after you mentioned it, but I honestly don't know the first thing about cutting/shaping G10, going to have to do some googling

I've gotten the liner material from Amazon. I've tried a Dremel cutting wheel and it's not the greatest. I'm going to try tin snips next and then hand sanding. I don't have the time yet, but I think it'll work if I take it slow. Let me know what you find out.

Not that hard.
A Dremel tool can do most of the work.

This is the Dremel attachment you need for cutting out.

Not the best pictures, but here is my initial attempt of liners with from Amazon with blue Halpern Scales on my SPY 27 Mule. Next will be red liner with black Halpern/Spyderco liners for the ZMax Mule. Bought the Dremel tool to make the next liner attempt easier.

Nice! Hopefully I'm able to do something similar once the stuff arrives! How thin did you go or did you keep it at 1/32?

Ooooh I've been wondering myself about this! Planning to order the flat scales but it looks too thin. Hoping that a liner would help slightly bulk it up. Also, a contrasting color would work great with the plain G10 colors of the flat scales.

I kept it at 1/32. That was good because it was one less thing to deal with. It does fit a little tighter in the sheath, but it works. I have a pair of the flat scales in forest green that I plan on using a black liner for the anticipated Z-Wear Mule. If I can't score one, I'll use it on my S45VN Mule, which is now wearing a paracord wrap.

Other great minds had the same idea as me and I'm please to see I was not crazy to think it. The liners look great!

Have a 3d printer inbound on top of the g10 sheets, never used one but I thought trying to print liners might be a good start

Oh, oh, this is the idea I have in mind! Though I'm thinking of the flat scales...how thick are your liners and where did you get it?
