Halpern scales availability

#1

Post by Burton Knut »

Has anyone checked in on the Halperns’ schedule lately? I feel like it was mentioned that they expected to be restocked toward the end of April and here we are...

I tried the shopping cart at Halpern but...no love...

I do like the Halpern thin scales, they are .144 thick and weigh 1.4 oz.

I noticed this today as well. Surprising that they don't have any scales available when the next Mule release is tomorrow.

The scales are a side project for them, so I don't find it too surprising. They do a lot of production work for other companies and they are also behind TRM knives.

They had some not so loved colours when the last mule was dropped, you just had to look.

They mentioned late April for more to be available ( which we all know late April is early June in anyone’s language )

Just received word they are expecting more by the end of May. In reality probably June like you mentioned.

I sent an email to Halpern Titanium on 4/14/21 and the response was that they are currently out of stock and to try again in May.

Just got off phone with them. Limited restock sometime in may. Limited selection, not all options will be available. Probably won’t even go on website, she said she will probably send out an email blast with options/pricing. I would suggest you call to get on blast list.

We greatly appreciate Les and Marianne's help in supplying Mule Team scales. Since the Mule Team is a "New game", we'll have to figure it out. What do you think you would like?

A nice variety of micartas and a hi-vis G10 or two would be just dandy.

Definitely several G-10 choices and do they still make "Dymondwood"?

Colors.

Terro-Tuff or Micarta would be neat, G10 works well and I'm sure textured FRN options would sell.

Seems like a business opportunity for someone to setup Mule scale production. Considering that Halpern is busy with other projects and they were the major player in this market.

Definitely Micarta. G-10 is nice for using with gloves, but my G-10 Halpern scales are rather rough for prolonged hard use.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I did the Contact Page and Jenn responded with:

Thanks Dion. I will reach out at the end of May with available options.
Kind Regards,
Jenn

Definitely interested in Micarta scales, especially green. I've been waiting for Halpern to restock those for years :)
