This is a neat list and a good resource. Thanks Kristi!

Edit: Also as a side note I see the last mule SPY27 was only around 500pc. This could be why there were a lot of people missed out. I feel like 800-1000pc would be a better range.

A company's production numbers are often secret, but it's fun to see how many of an item are made. Data like that are really important to gun collectors... car collectors... and I suppose even beanie baby collectors. Now we can see that back in February, we were elbowing our way into the web store to bag one of 500 units. With so few made, should I feel guilty that mine is currently clipped to my waistband? Heck no! I'm gonna go chop something up. Adios!

Also, this list has been published here, https://www.spyderco.com/edge-u-cation/ ... m-project/, since we relaunched the Mule Team. Lots of great information!

There was only about 500 of the SPY27 mules? I feel somewhat better about missing out.

Thanks Kristi!

Yeah, about the quantities: one run with 1kpcs, all the others at lower quantities. No consistency. How come? And why the house steel at one of the lowest quantities??

Hi Michael,

The one run of 1,000 was the minimum they would make. They sold out quickly because of the low cost. The original plan was to make as many Mule Teams per steel as we could. We generally buy 1,000 lbs and we thought that around 500-600 pcs would serve the market. Some are lost in learning to work the steel.

Material for the SPY27 Mule was ordered long before we knew where the Mule Team was going. At the time, the sales of the past few Mule Teams was dismal so we didn't anticipate the response we received. Hind sight is 20/20.

A telling statistic would be when the last piece of each was sold. That would show everyone how long some of those hung around, which has a large effect on the quantity decision.

Edit: The coming soon tag has been removed so no second run yet.

I noticed the SFO shows the Spy27 mule as coming soon. Does this mean the decisions been made to do a second run? I hope so funds where tight for me when they dropped so I missed out.

Kristi,
Would it be possible to easily list dates that each went out of stock? Some took years, while others lasted minutes!
Thanks,
G27

The SPY-27 is the only one that sold out in under a week, I can tell you that much.

Not quite. Sorry to disagree, but the early Mules (probably the first 10) sold out quickly. Most within 15 minutes to an hour. It was only later that they started to slow down.
