Perhaps they just don't have the whole batch ready to ship and put the brakes on orders till more are ready. If the whole run is out in less than 2 hours, they should do another double batch!
*was actually 1 hour or slightly less!

This is my first mule team. I’m amazed at how great it feels in the hand. It’s basically a contoured handle fixed blade manix 2.

Out of stock. While I was trying to pay for mine, someone beat me to it.
That is the worst of all things. I had it happen to me once (at another seller).

I hope it goes that way. Especially with SPY27. I would like to see SPY27 mules be a standard in stock item (or new batches produced when they have slack time or however it might work) so mules would always be available for the craftsmen. And what better steel for that than Spy27?

Crazy. The last available Mule (micromelt) was on sale for about 3 years, and I know because I bought one of the last ones last summer/fall. I guess I'm going to have to watch the forums because I didn't hear anything about it until about 15 minutes ago and it was then too late.

For those who have bought them and are wondering, the leather sheat and G10 scales available on the site are excellent. I haven't yet bought a boltaron sheath but was planning to for this one. Will get one with the next one I buy.

I almost missed it myself.

And because the announcement was up at the top of the forum!! I am used to that being sticky threads that I have seen 100 times and habitually ignore. Now I have to form new habits and look up there. I have been watching the regular forum threads for months waiting for an announcement.

It just shows the power of advertising. The mules used to be quite low key. Recently they have been featured front and center along with the creation of this special forum. Perhaps they wanted to avoid something like the PD-1 mule (which was a gem by the way) sitting in stock for 3 years. It certainly worked.

This is sold out already???

This is starting to get a bit out of control. I just don't know how much longer I can believe the "we didn't know what the demand would be" excuse... Must have been a really small run.

Haha, forgot about this one today. Spent the day with the family and missed out.

I'd say it's a fair trade off.

Well, that was disappointing. :(

The release time was 4 in the morning here in eastern Australia.

I work late shifts, so I was toying with the idea of either staying up late, or setting an alarm to get one of these.

In the end I decided to just check when I woke up.

Ah well, you snooze you lose. There’s certainly worse things in the world than missing out on a knife.

Anyway, I’m glad to see the Mule Teams return with some success, and I hope everyone who got one enjoys theirs.

I’ll be interested to see the feedback on this steel. The SPY27 Para 3 I sharpened for a friend took a really nice edge, and seemed able to sustain quite a thin bte grind when I used it at work for a week.

I had a reminder set on my devices, otherwise I would have forgotten. One blade and a sheath are on their way. I don't carry a fixed blade, but you guys got me curious about the Mules. I've made one kitchen knife that I'm very happy with, but compared to the work of some of you guys, it looks pretty basic. Nevertheless, there are some chunks of melaleuca out back that I intend to turn into scales. If that doesn't work, I have a bodark log that I can slice up.

Well, I have one in a cart, but now all sheaths are sold out. That is really depressingly stupid.

Not sure if I'll complete the order at this point.

Having trouble reconciling the sentiment of these two posts...

Trying my best not to be a jerk, but this is coming off a bit entitled. The word excuse implies fault. They announced a date and time, they limited 2 per customer, and the stock was available for an hour. If you really wanted one, they were available. Again, apologies if that's rude of me to say, but we shouldn't punish the company for doing things the right way.

We're not talking about the Manix 3 here guys/gals... they're knife blanks that are probably minimally profitable to sell. The point is to let people test steels and give feedback, not rake in money. From what I've read they make about the same number in each batch. When they sell out, they sell out. It's just not a regular production item and we shouldn't expect them to be.
Entitled? This has nothing to do with me not getting the knife. I had the knife and a set of scales in my cart and was ready to check out but willingly decided not to buy them. Say what you want but my sentiment remains the same. The blind demand for these knives has never been higher. I'm just sick of FOMO marketing.
