I just got a shipping notification! Thank you for limiting the purchase quantity and giving a heads up on the forum in advance so I could snag one when the flood gates opened! I know these are likely not the highest margin item that you sell, so those of us that were lucky enough to snipe one in the first hour really appreciate the opportunity to get their hands on a Spyderco-quality item at a more than fair price. I look forward to adding an S45VN mule to my growing Spyderco collection if I should be lucky enough again to snag it when it releases. For the time being I have to "mule" over what scales to put on my first mule :p

Wow. Isn't a batch of mules 600pcs? And they're all sold out already??

Entitled? This has nothing to do with me not getting the knife. I had the knife and a set of scales in my cart and was ready to check out but willingly decided not to buy them. Say what you want but my sentiment remains the same. The blind demand for these knives has never been higher. I'm just sick of FOMO marketing.
Okay, I guess it's just a difference of opinion on advertising/availability. Personally I think they advertised the mule reboot because they haven't run a knife through it in years. I also think having almost an hour to buy a knife after the date/time they announced it would become available is fair. I really don't see where you're coming from that it's up to Spyderco to make sure every last person who might buy one is able.

Crazy. The last available Mule (micromelt) was on sale for about 3 years, and I know because I bought one of the last ones last summer/fall. I guess I'm going to have to watch the forums because I didn't hear anything about it until about 15 minutes ago and it was then too late.

For those who have bought them and are wondering, the leather sheat and G10 scales available on the site are excellent. I haven't yet bought a boltaron sheath but was planning to for this one. Will get one with the next one I buy.
The PD#1 went in and out of stock multiple times.

Just got shipping notification for mine as well. Thank you Spyderco for the opportunity to buy this Mule. Can’t wait to see how this sharpens up.

I hadn't noticed that, Joshcrutchley1. Thanks for the info. I thought I had seen it sold out and then saw it there so I snagged one. I guess that might have been what happened. I haven't used it very much but it seems a good steel.

There has been a little said on other threads about demand now being higher than supply for limited runs. I did miss out. Wish I didn't, as will many I guess. I can't imagine it would be too hard to increase the number made, but using the crystal ball to guess that number would be hard. Yes I am disappointed, but I didn't have to make the decision on the numbers to manufacture.

I missed it! I'm so depressed about missing my opportunity at the new spy 27. I can't wait for an opportunity at the others. There's a gap in numbers and can't wait to see what fills in MT 29 And the 30 as well. So exciting!!! Thanks Sal and Eric for bringing this back

Hi Rwstubbz,

Welcome to our forum and sorry you missed it. We had no idea this could happen. The last Mule Team run of 600 pieces took years to sell out.

Look what Sal said. It was a BIG surprise, regardless of the price.

I'm happy I scored one, and feel sorry for those of you who didn't. But we've already learned from Sal himself that he is willing to improve the process leading up to the actual drop of a new MT. Now let us find TOGETHER the path to success!

This is sold out already???

This is starting to get a bit out of control. I just don't know how much longer I can believe the "we didn't know what the demand would be" excuse... Must have been a really small run.

Hi Nick,

Do you think that I am lying, or that I'm wrong?

Haha, forgot about this one today. Spent the day with the family and missed out.

I'd say it's a fair trade off.

Sal,

So lying or wrong... can’t you be both??? Come on, I am just joking of course. Some people just get disappointed and frustrated, no big deal. On my job we always say “Did anyone die... no then it’s not that big of a deal, it can be fixed”. It’s just a knife, get the next run or check eBay, no big deal. Your doing a great job and communicating well. Don’t let someone’s momentary frustration reflect negatively on the Mule program. Keep up the good work.

Hi Hereiamu1,

It would be my hope that we fa a Mule Team into the hands of everyone that wanted one. We have a discussion going on another thread as to possible CQI's to the process.

I'll debate a lot of points. But, that ain't one.

I have insider information ;) (I hope it's not been posted before - I haven't read all posts in this thread) that the run was indeed around 600 pcs. Some were put aside for in-person purchasers at SFO, some for orders over the phone. But the rest was indeed sold out in what? less than an hour?!
