Looks great, Larry! My MT28 came today and I just ordered a bunch of hardware and a couple slabs of Micarta for scales, as well as some brass corby bolts to finish the PD#1 Mule I have. I've got stabilized Ebony wood for those handle scales. I just hope it all turns out acceptably. :rolleyes:legOFwhat? wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 6:42 pm
Yay! Threw on some old scales just to play around and hopefully, in the next few weeks, I can get to work on the next set.

I'm eager to see how turns out Connor! I'm torn between terotuf or carbon fiber. The Meat man wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 8:52 pmLooks great, Larry! I admit I just grabbed the photo of your scales, Larry.
I've got some bog oak that I'm stabilizing for black wood. I was picturing a mixed wood for Spy27, but your scales have me thinking of using some burlap micarta.

Looks like mine cleared Canadian customs a few hours ago and is in a postal facility about 100 miles away from me.
Now, the question is, will it arrive tomorrow or Monday? And how many times do you think I will be checking for the mail tomorrow? Lol.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on the sheaths, Capt'n, I appreciate it! I typically prefer boltaron/kydex as well, but I have a feeling I'll be getting the leather soon too! :)Capt'n Boatsalot wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 2:42 pmI've got a boltaron sheath from SheathPro is very similar, or possibly the same as the ones direct from Spyderco. I've also got a pair of kydex sheaths I made myself which are very functional (I use them for IWB carry) although not nearly as pretty. I think you'll like the boltaron - very well made and fits perfectly (assuming its similar/same as my SheathPro model).
I like to use the leather sheaths when I'm out hiking/camping as they tend to feel less tactical and to me feel better in the environment. The kydex/boltaron sheaths are my preference for use around the house (when I can figure out a reason to justify carrying a fixed blade). For my favorite fixed blade knives, I eventually end up with both a kydex and a leather sheath option - Mules, South Fork, BK16.
After a "weather delay," my Mule finally landed this morning! Can't wait to go home and open it up! :D

My single Mule made it to my state days ago, but has been stuck on the other end of Texas with "weather delay" all week.
I bet she's cold where ever she is.

Mine has arrived today, after a two day delay due to misrouting. I'll give it a paracord wrap in the evening. Maybe I'll post a pic of the poor result afterwards.

Here we go:
My paracord work is far from being perfect, but also not half bad. It'll do. It's a two layer wrap, to provide a better grip. A base wrap with the cored reddish paracord, and on top the blueish (apparently).
The MT28 came pretty darn sharp ootb. Tomorrow it will be put to a first test in the kitchen. :)

It's funny that it cost more to buy a mule than it does a new Para 3 lw or Manix 2 in spy27

Maybe GB means the secondary price is higher than a new P3 or M2? That's my take, FWIW.
