Normally I pass on these, as I prefer giving.

However, I'm going to throw my hat in the ring on this one. That blue uranium is calling to me. Really spiffy!

I'm in. Thanks for the opportunity.

...So now I want to pass one on so maybe some of the joy I've had with them could be shared. I'll let the winner choose which of the two mules, either a "user" or a "looker" (not that either can't be used, of course).
Forgive me if it's obvious, but which is the looker and which is the user? I have a guess based on a quick google search of each steel. I'm honestly asking to learn, I don't own any in either steel.

Both of them look incredible, but that red Kirinite has me second guessing my decision to sit out!
Thanks for the being so generous and good luck to those who are “in.”
Whoever wins will have a great knife!
EDIT: You know what, I change my mind!
They look too good and I figure it’s worth a shot to accept your generosity!

I suppose that's up to the winner ;) Both have already been "used" since they've been sharpened and each have been used to make other handles.
Both are fantastic steels. PD#1 is Carpenter's version of Cru-wear and their version of CPM 10v in PMA11.

It's really nice like most composites/resins, the metal mesh inside that gives the weave sands out good as well. IMO it's easier than Kirinite to shape.

I think I'll order some and try it. I'll have to put it on something besides a mule, but it'll be good practice for the next mules (and to see if I want it on a mule).

Lots of wood lately, and it will be fun to work with a composite again.

Thanks!

I'm in! I've been trying to get a Mule since I've gotten myself into this "knife thing",(which I apparently have no or very little control of). These are beautiful knives and thanks for doing this. Thanks to your wife who obviously understands and is willing to participate in your passion. Let the Games Begin!

The past couple of years my biggest hobby had been learning and making these handles. I've made about 30 sets or so
I missed that on first reading and it is really making me sit down and think.

There is something about that statement that I like a lot. And it puts your work in perspective given that you have invested a substantial part of your life -- and that you would now give part of it away. Hmm hmm. Well you of course know it is more
blessed to give than receive and that yields even more food for thought.

Beautiful scales Larry and Chad.

The Wood Database is a great resource for anyone planning on experimenting with making scales out of timber.

https://www.wood-database.com/wood-articles/

I suggest becoming familiar with the Janka rating of different timbers. Woods in the 2000 lb/f plus range make great knife scales.

Lignum vitae is a particularly fascinating wood which has been used for self lubricating bearings in nuclear submarines and is still used in hydroelectric dam bearings.

Oh, and I’m in!

Thanks Larry, this is very generous of you.
