I had always wondered how the paracord wrappings were done, excellent thread :cheap-sunglasses

Thanks yablanowitz for the picture heavy tutorial 👌

Nice ! Seems comfortable. I might not do a ton of paracord wrapping in the future since I've equipped myself to do better scales than i did free hand, but it makes me want to try such a configuration.

I'm glad you found it helpful. I've tried a bunch of different wraps, before and since, but this one gave me the best results for my use.

I have to say, I did some work on wood, in the kitchen and with cardboard already : The width this wrap gives is really nice for cuts that require some force.

I've done a lot of hard cutting with Mules wrapped this way. Gives me plenty of traction, just enough padding and doesn't add too much bulk to bother me when I carry it across the small of my back. Careful, though. If you like it too much, you may never get around to finishing scales.

That's an issue I thought about only after a few days... might be too late!

Nice thick wrap there. Looks twice as wide as other pics here, yet it doesn't appear that you double-wrapped it?

no double wrap, maybe the others have fewer cords inside?

It looks good! I might try this with additional wraps of cord between the holes in the tang (as in your first photo) to see how girthy I can get it.

I do not know what you meant by fewer cords ? This wrap was pretty hard cause I had to cut the end of the cords inside to make them go through the 3/16 hole. Otherwise it would never have gone through !

If you feel you need more material, try double wrapping. You might remove the core on the first/inner layer, then use the standard PC for the outer layer. It works perfect for me. Just give it a go, you can always reverse it. You just need to use different holes for the start....

Link to a How To that I put together and posted on Blade forums a while back. It's how I've done all of mine. I think you may need to be logged in there to get the link to work.

This cord wrap tutorial is important to keep in mind. Cord wrap is the cheap and important way to get your Mule into service.

This tutorial changed my mind and really helped to keep a cord wrap tight until I wanted to take it off. It also opened a door for me to spend more money on more Mules and not spend on tooling for good/fancy/or more permanent scales.
