Unless you have a good local option for unusual things like this, I suggest you just order the Alumilite on line.
Thanks man. Now I have to decide whether to Kydex or to Alumilite first...such fun decisions...

Thanks. On another note, I don't know if it matters to others, but I like to try and polish the spine. I think it looks classy, finished.

My local Hobby Lobby (believe it or not) stocks Alumilite resins and dyes.

Good call! I never checked Hobby Lobby because the closest one to me is about a 40 minute drive and I have some closer options. Since they're a nation-wide chain, that's a really good resource suggestion that will be within driving distance for a lot of people all over the United States. :)

Really beautiful work. :)

Do you have a website or something where we can see more of your other scales?

Mule in progress. I've cut slabs out of birch walking sticks.

Mixed up some epoxy with glow in the dark powder.

Now I am shaping the scales.

I am super excited about glow in the dark. I am not so excited about the quality of wood I am using. Small knots have popped large chunks of wood out. I guess there is something to be said for large pieces of wood with clear straight grain.

Great idea! Very excited to see how this turns out. Is the glow limited to a layer between the tang and the wood, or does your epoxy glow show up elsewhere, too?

I'm a little confused because I see pan head screws. Or are you both glueing and screwing?

Regards the knots, somewhere Xplorer addressed making repairs with a mix of sawdust and epoxy to fill in such problem areas.

Hey Bolster,

I've got it screwed and glued. The glow will show up in the handle and covering the screw heads too. Good luck getting it apart.
