I'm definitely warming up to it. We give up a bit of tip strength for a tip that pierces better. SPY27 toughness is decent for its 'steel neighborhood' at what, 8-9 ft lbs, so I wouldn't expect tip breaks unless abused. Visually, reducing the area of the blade makes it look more butt heavy, but some folks like big butts (and they cannot lie).
