Good morning everyone,
I have read this forum for a long time, but this is my first post, so, hello!
I am working on a mod for my Cara Cara 2 and I need some information if anyone has it available... Does anyone know what size the clip screws are? Are they metric or standard, and what is the thread pitch? I need longer screws than what comes with the knife so I can't just re-use the factory ones.
Thank everyone!
Jamie

Hey, Jamie:
They are definitely metric. I'll have to do some checking to get the exact size...
Stay safe,
Mike

Re: Cara Cara 2 pocket clip screw size?
Dear Jamie:
Sorry for the slow response. Due to COVID, I'm working from home without access to my full range of Spyderco product samples. I had to do some digging to find my personal G-10 Cara Cara...
Metric screw sizes are basically an "M" followed by the outside diameter of the screw threads, i.e. M6 would be a 6mm external thread diameter. The outside diameter of the screw threads on my Cara Cara's clip screws is 2.21mm. According to this chart
https://www.engineersedge.com/hardware/ ... sizes1.htm
that would most likely make the screws an M2.3.
I would suggest a visit to a Fastenal store or a well-stocked hardware store (many Ace Hardware locations actually have a good supply of specialty screws). Bring your knife along and try any available M2.2 or M2.3 screws to see if you can achieve a proper fit.
I hope this helps. Good luck with your mod!
Stay safe,
Mike

M2.2, M2.3 screws and threads are extremely rare. You won'tt find in anywhere and I suppose nobody would used it in cheap, mass manufactured product. I checked the screws, in my Cara Cara Rescue the diameter is 2.34-2.4 mm, so the thread is (common) M2.5.
