Very neat! I've always wanted to try an emerson opener and I think this is the perfect opportunity to give it a shot.
Re: Byrd Cara Cara 2 Emerson Opener: NEAT!
....I just finally bought the spyderco version! Dang! But I think it will be fun to buy one.
Re: Byrd Cara Cara 2 Emerson Opener: NEAT!
Neat indeed, Emerson wave and FFG. I will definitely purchase this.

Do you think the Emerson Wave Opener on it can function as a bottle opener like the one on the Emerson Endura and Delica?

SEF, any Spyderco can function as a bottle opener!SpyderEdgeForever wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 10:42 amDo you think the Emerson Wave Opener on it can function as a bottle opener like the one on the Emerson Endura and Delica?

I plan to buy a few of these. I'll gift some and probably use one as my work knife. I've always liked the Cara Cara and the Wave will make it even more convenient. I think Spyderco should use the Cara Cara handle for the Endura 5.

Vivi, you are truly amazing. I am so glad you like this knife, too, and thanks for the video. I also agree that Spyderco ought to use the Cara Cara handle on the Endura.

I feel you brother...last Spydie I bought after quite a few years is the Endura Emerson,
only for this to be announced a month later :o
I guess I won't be carrying these two together anymore :p
Re: Byrd Cara Cara 2 Emerson Opener: NEAT!
Now I don't need to buy one of those "wave" attachments for my Endura FFG. Very nice!
Hopefully some day I won't have to think about buying one for my most used knife ...the Tasman Salt.

Re: Byrd Cara Cara 2 Emerson Opener: NEAT!
I am stoked - I love my (missing) waved Matriarch2 and have been carrying a Kershaw Emerson lately. Stoked to be able to get a byrd Emerson and will likely get another waved M2 so I can carry a waved SE and PE from my favorite maker.
If you like waved blades and haven't tried a byrd yet, this is the time! The Cara Cara series, blade steel notwithstanding, are every bit as good as Enduras, IMO. I prefer the choil on the Cara Cara and don't think it suffers with slightly less cutting edge. Also, at something like 30ish percent of the street price, you can afford to work them hard and while the steel will need sharpening more, I find the 8cr13mov steel to take a nice sharp edge with little work.

I definitely want to get one of the Byrds with the wave feature.
Actually the Dragonfly with the wave looks slick too.

Vivi, it seems from pictures that some variations of the Cara Cara 2 have more narrow blades than others. Is this true or not?
Re: Byrd Cara Cara 2 Emerson Opener: NEAT!
Is this out yet? I’ve heard that the supposed end of this reveal period is coming soon, but everywhere I’m looking still has preorder buttons.

I wish there will be a Meadowlark FFG wave, the Cara Cara is too larger for my daily carry

Hope it's soon.

Anxious to get one of these. Will probably get another waved Matriarch 2 so I have a fullsize waved blade dor each pocket, one plain and one serrated like I prefer.
