Byrd Rescue questions

Post by vlawson »

Does the Meadowlark Rescue 2 have liners?

I checked out the Spyderco Rescue 79 at a local climbing chop and it is so flexible in the handle it's crazy. I wouldn't feel 100% comfortable reefing on big static 11mm rescue rope, or cutting someone out of their climbing harness with that thing.

If the Meadowlark Rescue 2 and Cara Cara Rescue 2 have liners, then that may be huge. If the strength is there I think the rescue Byrds would bump the Spyderco Rescue 3 out of the running (the Rescue 79 is already out). They are priced right for a tool that may get dropped, or set down and left due to the nature of the emergency.

Some have said that the serrations are worse on the Byrds. How much worse, and what (beyond: "it cuts good") defines serration quality?

Thanks!

Hello:

I have a Cara Cara Rescue 2 and it has stainless Steel liners. Here is a shot:

The serrations are very good. Probably not as sharp as their Spyderco equivalent, but they cut and cut a lot.

Hope this helps.
