I have the originals with black aluminium handles and absolutly love them.cant wait to get the titanium.I like aluminium better the g10 so I wont get these but I will get the ti

I want to post pictures of the Raven 2 vs the Lightweight Manix, the Raven has a thicker blade. I think they're good competition for each other.

My Crow 2 is taking a long time since I added it to my HAP40 preorder that hasn't been fulfilled nor shipped yet...

I have it, but there isn't much to compare that to!

I designed the Raven 2 to be more like the Military. Many of the features are similar to the Military and the Raven 2 uses a USA made steel. I carry mine quite a bit.

Size wise. There aren't many thick bladed small Spydercos outside of the Techno. It's a little longer than a Dragonfly 2 and quite a bit thicker.

So far with Spyderco there's nothing to say than it is so great all the time. I always am fun with it and in fact I have bought more for a sort of collections.

Also a question: has there ever been any talk about using Sandvik stainless steel of some type for Byrd knives? Would that be a good idea?

The plan is to use a Sandvik steel for some of the Chinese made Spyderco's. It's still in progress, but slow.

These look like really nice quality knives. I really like my Robin 2. Though I use it only for opening packages and the like, I really enjoy using it. I'm a rabid fan of the choil.

These two don't seem to be getting as much attention as they deserve. I'm not sure BD1 is well-understood, even after all this time.

And maybe people don't think about byrd when they're looking for a heavier use knive? I assume that's what the thick blade is about. And though I love a massive slab of steel as much as the next man, I wonder if the added weight and cost is the right tradeoff here.

Is an FRN version likely? Or does the design suggest not?

Has anyone commented elsewhere on how similar the specs of the Raven 2 are to the Paramilitary 2?

Robin 2 is really good for all purpose I guess. Because I have one in my house I I usually use it almost everyday for all purpose.
So far, I have no experience it get rust and the blade is still sharp even for how many use.

This is what I'm excited about! The form factor and lines of the Raven 2 are almost identical to the PM2, excluding about the last 1/5th of the handle and the palm swell on the spine side. Within the value lines it seems like the Raven 2 is to the Tenacious as the Paramilitary 2 is to the Manix 2 in terms of overall footprint. Looks like a great alternative high value folder for someone who doesn't connect with the ergos of the Tenacious.

I think the Raven 2 blade remains thicker as you travel down the blade.

My Crow just arrived :cool: I have much fun with small blade and relatively big choil. It holds similar to Sage 1.
Like it :spyder:
