I thought I would let you all know that I have recently completed an article about my experience with Cuscadi of Germany, and their Custom Handle Scales for the Spyderco Mule Team knives.
As a little teaser, this is one of the images, from...
I was considering getting one or more of these jig-guided drum sanders, for use in the drill press, in order to help make scales for the mules. The metal knife blank itself would make a nice jig, I think, if you're doing a flush edge fit.
I have been expressing my interest in the Mule Team Project by building a Blog dedicated to it's expression. From News and Rumours, to a Gallery and How-To's, I have been really immersing myself in all the information available online about the...
Fitted some hardwood scales with 3/16 brass pins and 1/4 brass tube/lanyard hole. Feels really good in hand, of course the nicely shaped design has something to do with it. Also tapered the scales thinner to the front.
Made my own leather sheath(other...
It was my b-day this last Friday, and I received the latest Mule Team, in ZDP-189, and so I wrapped it, and some of my other Mules up, just to see what they are like.
As most everyone knows, the Mule Team project was created to give more people access to various steels using a standard pattern for a fixed blade knife. The hope of the project was to find out what these steels can do by making them available at an...
Hey anyone else had problems with warped mules? All 3 of mine that I've received are warped to varying degrees. Not sure what I'm going to do with it to be honest!
Does the Mule Team 9Cr18Mo compare to VG-10?
Or is it too soon to tell?
I know there out there, but has anyone used one yet?
Any test data? Info?
Thoughts?
Thanks :D
And it's got that wonderful new knife smell to it. I can't wait to put a handle on it. Unfortunately I'll be limited to a quick cord wrap for now, as I'm wading through mid-terms at the moment.
Just in! :)
It's very well done, I'm pleased with it. Much lighter than I expected(holes I guess). High quality work here, as the Sage is. Wish these people would have done the CATas well.
This is going to make a fine knife when I put those wood scales on...
My firends and I went 5 for 5 on mule deer bucks this week and I managed to get the s90v mule in on every one of them. First let me say that when the mule arived I thought it could have been sharper but I used it as it came and I am very impressed. I...
Here’s some removable mule handles I made recently. They are not 100% finished but getting close. The removable handles are nice because you can switch them from one mule to the next or change them easily if you desire.
How did you dress up your Mule? Handles? Wrap? Sheaths?
Quite late on the Mule thing, but I have one on the way. I've seen a few that look really well done. I think I will do mine(when it gets here :D ) in Mexican Ebony.
I finally got one of my mules done and figured I'd share the results. :D
I fattened out the grip a bit with an extra layer of paracord under the wrap. The width of the handle is slightly over 3/4 of an inch thick in the middle and...
I'm new to the forum but find people's pictures of their knives fascinating. Anybody have any good pictures of self-made handles or sheaths on their Mules?
Hello, friends!
In the camp Spyderco collectors in Russia, confusion reigns  . One after another, in the manufacture of linings on the handle were broken two Spyderco Mule ZDP-189 :( . Efforts have been made very small, no more fracture pencil....
So, you have been buying mules, using them and comparing them. What have you found ?
Where are the mule reports :) There have been 4 different steels so far (if I remember correctly), and they've been in ELUs hands for a while, so there should be enough...
I posted a thread earlier about sharpening ZDP as I was having trouble with my Mule. I got some good advice and went at it again yesterday and today. I spent another 7-8 hours on the project. I still can't get it sharp and I'm starting to wonder if it's...
I recently became educated on the wonderful properties of CPM-S90V steel; however, it was too late to purchase a new CPM-S90V MT03 Mule from the Spyderco store. Is there another place I could get this mule from?
What are the chances we might see one? Maybe in CPM S30V with a G-10 handle and Boltaron sheath. Would anyone else want one? Or is this technically covered by the Temperance line? Just wishing.
Hi guys. This is my first post on the spydie forums. I'm 14 and basically addicted to all types of outdoor gear. Guns, knives, and tac gear. The guns in our safe can be seen in my sig, and I have some high quality tactical gear, but all my knives are...
A good friend of mine called me yesterday and wanted to know if I could touch up a few knives for him. I told him sure and he came over this morning to let me polish them for him. One of them happened to be a Spydero Mule Team in CPM-M4. I have regretted...
Since tricod isn't replying to my PM (is he still around?)...
Who makes mule handles, so I can finally make sure of my s90v mule. I've got material here for both handles and sheath but haven't found the time to make a mess of the garage making handles...
I'm working on my first mule team (S90V + stabilized redwood) and want to use some 3/16 mosaic pins. I've found a guy, By Jake , that sells 12 lengths for a decent price, but was wondering if anybody has purchased from him before? Are there any other good...
I just purchased my first Mule Team MT03 and I was wondering if it was possible to buy or find the other two that were made? Any ideas or info would be great!!!!
