I was playing around today and saw a bunch of posts on another forum where some very talented individuals carved spoons from sticks or logs. Some used multiple knifes and other tools, a few refused to use anything other than a woods knife.
It's been a few weeks since I had to modify it, and I'm extremely pleased with the way this fixed blade works for me on the weekends. Thanks to all for the encouragement and advice :D It's my favorite goto knife on the weekends :D
I'm done putting handles on both of my mules.
First one is black micarta with white liners and mosaic pins.
Second is box elder burl dyed blue and stabilized with black liners and mosaic pins.
Needless to say a completely irresponsible person got a hold of of my new Mule and used it for things it what not intended to do. Needless to say I wasn't around when it happened and am a little miffed  The words Total abuse come to mind when I see...
It took ages to get this done. The knifemaker who did the work for me got sick, then his first son was born, and a million other things got in the way. But I finally have my Mule just the way I wanted it!
After looking into it a little bit I prefer the term Damascened. True Damascus is ancient, and the details of it's making seem scarce. The ore used to make seems very specific(Wootz steel). Thinking the description has changed and gotten a little fuzzy...
I'm looking to customize my first mule with scales and a sheath. I was wondering what size pins to order and if anybody has a favorite adhesive for this process. So, does anyone?
Also, I've seen some lanyard holes that I like, and am...
I am looking to build a knife for general camping and light weigh backpacking. Which of these two do you think would work better? I will also need a commercially available kydex sheath as well. Which do you think is a better size and steel? Also where is...
Im trying to get a decent small fixed blade that can be a backup blade for my KA-BAR for camping. Im thinking of buying a Mule Team for the job. Would the CTS-BD1 steel be a good steel for the job? I know nothing about it or the G2 steel its similar to.
I do not want the simple wrap that everyone is doing. I have seen it done where it is woven, if that is the right term. Perhaps more like a Strider. Anyone have a link to how to do a wrap like that?
Buck for a Mule? What? another Mule Projects Update...
Sequimite, being the smart cookie we have come to know and love... Figured out that a Mule would likely fit in this one Buck Sheath, so I got interested.
I'm going to throw down for the new Mule today. This wil be my first arts & crafts project.
Before I get too deep into this post-I suck at searching this forum. I've tried to find the answers for an hour now. Please accept my appologies for...
I am thinking about doing some filework on the spine of a couple of my Mules. However, my experience trying to enlarge the holes in the tang of the MT-01 leads me to believe that all I'd do is ruin perfectly good files. Has anyone done this? I...
most of us got it today/yesterday. any idea's what you will do? this is going to be my first. what do you think an easy first design is - for me to try out?
i want to do it myslef, not send it to someone. even though it would be better looking if someone...
When we first began working with Carpenter steel over a year ago, there were many steels that we discussed. Carpenter has been exceptional in creating a number of steels that are good knife blade steels .
We are proud to have been able to be the first to...
What's up ladies and gents? I'm very new to quality knives. Been researching different production brands for a while now and although I've only ever owned one spydie (other than the ukpk I just ordered) I'm a big fan of the products available from...
When Sal first proposed the Mule Team knives, he did so with the assumption that there would be those who would provide the handles and sheaths necessary to make the knives useful.
Now, as we know, he was right, Halpern Titanium, soon Blind...
So, these have been out awhile, but I have simply been too busy to do anything but put fires out.... Hopefully the fine folks at Halpern Titanium are not machining pitchforks.....
One of the spyderco Mule teams came out in this chinese made steel.
I have read different legends about it, from being it the 440C of China, till 'there is no big difference between 8cr13mov /byrds/ and 9cr18mov' but generally its considered to be the...
Hello all. I just got a 52100 Mule team by mistaken identity on the sellers behalf, not a problem at all to me, really rather looking forward to this.
Question is, now that these have been out there for a while, is the factory edge angle the best or is...
I was recently browsing the old Show Your Mule thread and felt a sudden urge to pick up a Mule, preferably S35V or S90V, and send it off to Mr. Tom Krein. However, I know that Spyderco aren't selling any Mules as of right now.
Here is a woodcraft mule I did in black linen micarta compared to S90V mule dressed in tung oiled Kiawe (Hawaiian mesquite--I grabbed piece from firewood pile). The Kiawe shrunk and split from my first effort so I refinished it. Stabilized wood for me in...
So the wife wanted to cut up some cardboard boxes that the automatic kitty box shipped inside. So I handed her the S90V Mule thinking she couldn't hurt the edge on that one...wrong! I got it back with a bunch of tiny dings/chips near the tip. I couldn't...
