Hey, everyone:
Please be aware that effective immediately, we are temporarily unable to ship consumer orders to Australia and New Zealand. This restriction is due to suspensions imposed by USPS, Australia Post, and New Zealand Post due to COVID-19....
It's more of a make work/keep busy type of job. This is the Z-Max eating wood and pooping shavings. I have filled several big tubs and the blade has not really dulled, it has slowed...
Just got an email from Halpern Titanium with a link to preview their new website for ordering Mule handles- actual sales won't go live until 4:30 PM EST on Monday but you can start looking to see what's available.
If the mule program gets new life breathed into it via a folding mule, what is your preference?? Select all of the ones that you would participate in by buying most or all of the new steels that are released in this format.
This post is something of a redux. My first one ever here (some luck!) got buried over the weekend so I'm offering again. SSL issue and the Mulling over the Mule post is way down the list (original posting). Excuse me if this is poor form.
Did anybody cut it off?
I am wondering if it is preventing you from using the part of the edge closest to the handle (heel).
Thinking about skinning and butchering mostly, but also cutting food on a board
Hi everyone! Would like to know is the forum the best place for release dates or is there somewhere else that will have a better sense of timing? Does anyone know what the window of time is to purchase a knife? Thanks
We've had two mule pre-release polls (that I'm aware of) that sampled the forum's interest in an upcoming mule. I've been curious whether one could roughly predict demand from a forum poll. Two events is not enough to get a stable estimate, obviously! But...
Just got your full 2022 Catalog and Reveal in the mail today. I am not sure if everyone gets one or just your favorite customers but it was a great surprise. Tons of knives in there, steel charts, steel compositions, locking mechanism explications and...
I've been tinkering with the idea to make profile mod scales for the Mule Team. No tang modifications needed. This is just a rough alpha to get some input on the design.
Just got my package from :bug-red SFO, and got the H-2 literature. I was wondering why there was no mule team blade to test it out. It says that the change from H-1 was because of the impact on the industry from COVID-19, so maybe it was a forced and fast...
The golden rule for choosing your sequence is to never skip more than 1 grit.
For example, if you start with P80, and need to finish at P240, rather than using every grit from P80 – P220, you can do P80 – P120 – P180 – P240. This sequence cuts out P100,...
Searched the forum directly and through google and couldn't find this. Any interest in serrated mules? I can see this being a thing for the SPY27 perma-mule if it's not viable for the periodic mules. I think seeing how a steel handles serrations is an...
Removable onlay scales are not as popular as full-height scales, but they are sometimes seen on lightweight outdoor knives where the user may want to remove them and go with a “naked” skeletonized knife. The slim G-10 Halpern scales are undersized onlay...
I wanted to share my first attempt at making wood scales for my Z-Wear Mule. First I wanted to thank Xplorer for his great guide for making knife scales. Also a big thank you to Sal and his team for keeping the Mule Team alive, great job. His complete...
1st off I want to brag on forum member and craftsman Fullscaler for making these 3 beautiful sheaths! Fullscaler did a give away and I was blessed to be one of the winners and it really got me wanting more of this style. So he made that happen ;)
We also have a production Mule Team in the works that we'll keep in stock all of the time. Same handle, slightly different spine (a bit more straight) to easily tell the difference, but same handle shape and will fit the same sheaths.
Hi, I've searched through the old threads on this Mule, but I think making a new one is better, since it's a new subject.
I've recently bought a MT22P, the seller had used it, broke the very very end of the tip and the rest of the edge was simply rolled...
Just got my Spy27 Mule today. My very first one. Out of the box impressions are good. Scary sharp. Blade is nicely finished. Even grinds. Smaller than I initially thought it would be, but am extremely happy with the size. Ordered scales and sheath too....
Hi, I have a new interest in the Mule Team blades. I have been saving some burl maple for the right project.
How often does Spyderco release the Mule Team blades?
Thank you
Hi, I have a 204P mule, I brought from a guy who had 2, the story goes is…..they scrapped the 204P run because of heat treat problems, but a hand full made it out the foundry!
The one I have hasn’t even been sharpened and has a notch, a big one at that…...
Is there any group of folks that tradetheir mules? I have the MT31 and MT 32 that I'm getting close to finishing up with (still need to write reviews). I'd like for other people who missed either of them to be able to get to use and review them.
I recently got a beautiful block of Coolibah Burl that I want to turn into scales for my Z-Wear Mule. The block has a large split (1/64” - 1/16”) down most of the middle. I would like to use epoxy (black I am thinking) to pour in the crack to hold the...
Got my MT32 yesterday. Initial thoughts/impressions are as follows:
1. The finish is very good, nicer than any of the other 3 mules I have. The handle has a little radius to it with softened edges which makes it very comfortable with the Halpern scales I...
