Re: Tough stainless steel

I wish spyderco would try out some scandvik of some sort. Seems to have a nice balance of qualities that I appreciate. I have only used it in kershaws.

Re: Tough stainless steel

Stainless isn't really black and white but rather more of a spectrum and s30v will definitely rust. H1 is very tough but also lacks the edge retention of the steels you mentioned when done in plain edge and it is one of the few truly stainless steels. Serrated H1 may be an option if serrations work ...

Re: Tough stainless steel

The serrata comes in 440c and many companies use that for stainless survival knives. It isn't going to have the edge retention of the steels you mentioned though. I'm curious what others may say. Some of the tools steels are fairly stainless like d2 and cruwear.

Re: What are the "hard-use" spyderco FOLDERS?

I prefer to abuse cheaper knives. Many of the knives mentioned in this thread are too expensive for me to abuse. When combining both cost and strength I might choose to pound on my s30v para2 over other knives. It has a strong lock, a 3.7mm blade, I can afford a new one at just over $100 and I can f...

I'm glad to hear that the Lightweight is shipping.
I believe this is the regular s35v version. The S110v version is probably coming later. I am excited about this s35v one, at its price point it should be a great value.

Re: BBL spring

I do not have a ton of experience with that lock so I cannot comment on reliability/durability but the s110v and lightweight versions are pinned and cannot be disassembled just so you know.

I love to sharpen and keep my knives very sharp. I too started with a sharpmaker as my first Spydie. Sounds like that should be your next Spydie.

Re: Swick Hawkbill

So far all have been s30v and made in Golden and the runs have only been 500 units I believe. Not sure if we can get a run of only 500 from Seki or not. These will probably have to be made in Golden but with the autonomy being H1 and made in Golden, H1 is still an option. I like the idea of these be...

Re: What Spydeco is in your pocket today??

My wife went out to the movies with her friends and this is what I got to eat when she was gone. I don't eat dinner without her very often and she won't eat liver so this was a special treat for me. Growing tomatoes is one of my most favorite things and this summer I did really, really well. Still n...

I have thought about doing something very similar with my super blue delica using some sandpaper and a mouse pad. I just never seem to find the time.

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?

I have been looking for a full serrated military for a while but the funds and the timing never seem to align. I would be in favor of that more than a para2 and the para2 is my favorite model by far. I just think I would use a full serrated military more than a full serrated para2.

Quality speaks for itself and you can't fake it. Thanks for sharing. Glad you have had a good experience with that knife. As I have gotten older I have come to appreciate spending money right the first time. I will now hold out and save up so I can buy something of higher quality. It will cost you l...

Sorry, I don't usually describe my pics in this thread. A picture is worth a thousand words. :) My cruwear military. Man I love this knife. Almost as much as liver and onions. :D I do a ton of food prep with it and it isn't staining at all. At least not that I have been able to notice. Are we trying...
