Re: 2018 Alistair Phillips!
Thanks for starting the separate thread for my knife model. It is great to see it in the catalog.. Been so many messages on Facebook and Instagram that I have only just had the chance to start checking the forums. Spyderco really have done a fantastic job on bringing the knife into production. The s...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2018 Report
Phillips. Lovely. If the blade was 0.04” shorter it would be Colorado legal. Bummer. Yes, this. So, so close. Bummer indeed. :( I didn’t even know that you had blade length restrictions over there. I wonder how it would look with a stubby blade regrind. 1cm can make a big difference in the look of ...

Re: New Custom Spyderco Slipjoint Design
@Reject I'll see if I can get some good photos of it in action next time I use it. You pretty much nailed it with the idea of push cutting with downwards pressure, then using the front half for slicing etc. Talking of it being used at a BBQ. I attended the Blade symposium at Keith's place in Tahmoor...

Re: New Custom Spyderco Slipjoint Design
Thanks everyone. On the back of the tang snagging, it is always a trade off in knife design. If I covered that then the handle would interfere more when using the blade for its intended task. I agree, though, ideally it would be possible to cover everything. For a pocket clip I think it would be pos...

New Custom Spyderco Slipjoint Design
Hi everyone, I thought I would show off a new design I have been working on. I just had them on the table at the Australian Knifemaker Guild Show in Melbourne over the weekend. A little background on the design.. Over the years working in an office job I was putting on some weight, late last year I ...

Re: Spydercollaborations
I never really showed off those ones out side of Australia too much. The main reason being the import laws I wanted to make something for the locals. I am developing a new model at the moment which I am absolutely in love with. I'll come back with some pics when I have the design nailed down. Alist...

Re: Spydercollaborations
Did Alistair Phillips in Australia (mid 2013) get any traction here or in the states? I like the simplicity, of design. http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag49/AranaWhite/Alistair%20Phillips/Screen%20Shot%202016-01-18%20at%208.19.59%20PM_zpse4z1a97y.png http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag49/Ara...

Yes I do have a website although it is a bit out of date and I am in the processing of upgrading it. It doesn't have any of the newer work I have done on there but it is http://knives.mutantdiscovery.com From the reaction I think I will have to do some more with bolsters :D Thanks for looking everyo...

No there is nothing really stopping them from going OS. I am a little unsure of what would happen if anyone ever wanted to send one back for servicing or a fluff'n'buff etc. There might be some problems getting it back into Australia. There is a part in the legislation for servicing/temporary import...

Ok here goes. I only made in my spare time so I haven't made too many of them and this is my first model to feature the Round Hole. I haven't shown them outside of the Australian sites until now since the main interest for me was to make a knife for our local market. First up are some plain EDC line...

G'day. Knifemaker from Down Under
Hi everyone, I am a knifemaker down in Australia. I am sure you have heard all the issues with have with trying to import the lovely Spyderco knives into our country. So I ended up approaching Spyderco about licencing the Round Hole for use in my knives as they have done with other knife makers. At ...

G'day Sal, Saw this on the other forum and thought I would put forward some thoughts. I am a custom knife maker in Australia who makes knives in my spare time so I don't make too many knives each year. For the last 4 years I have been specializing in folding knives. I started off with slipjoints bec...
