Re: Flesh Eating Bacteria in Australia? Where Else?
Yep, we have whitetail spiders here in NZ as well. Got bitten(2x) by spider in sea boot. One bite worse than other, probably first one. Tried every alternative medicine we could possibly think of. Each helped for 24 hrs, then return to ulcerative decomposition. Getting very close to ankle bone. Went...

Unless of course, you’re Australian. In which case making fun of everyone is your “Patriotic Chore”. Ah, hahaha, ah, hahaha, ah, hahaha! To that end ... How do Kiwi’s find their sheep in long grass? Delightful! [/quote] Sorry, only just saw this. Have been away, so many blondes, so little...

If anyone is interested in Carnivores and their proclivities, (nasty habits) any of Peter Captstisk's or Corbett's s books will keep you enthralled.

Re: City Animals
It was the (spoiler alert) Leopard standing so close to the Couple walking blissfully past mere feet away, in a big city that shocked me. It is one thing to consider large Predators in the Wilderness, but it just seemed the Leopard had adapted to the point it is normall environment. When thought abo...

City Animals
I've just been watching BBC's "Planet Earth 2" Disc 2 episode 6, has a fascinating video using Thermal camera, of pigs and their Predators in a City of India. I won't spoil the surprise, it is awesome.. Well worth a look if you get a chance. I don't think I'll be wandering around Mumbai at...

Re: Ultrasonic Cleaner
Yes, remove as much Kerosene as possible, otherwise it will slow down ultrasonic cleaning. I just rinse items in strong detergent separately. For small batches where you are probably tossing solution out each day it won't make much difference. It is the hot water which does 90℅ of cleaning. Great fo...

Re: Ultrasonic Cleaner
On the solution subject, don't use any volatile fluids. No kerosene, diesel, etc. They can (will) explode. I do use Kero. for removing larget amounts of Tripoli polishing compound. This is Tallow and Aluminium oxide, which is quite greasy so benefits from a pre soak in kerosene.(separate container) ...

Re: Ultrasonic Cleaner
Hi Bloke, in my Trade as Jeweler, we use them constantly. DON'T use it without liquid OR anything in bowl. They need something in bowl to work on, if not, the transducer will eat through the bottom of bowl, pretty quickly (hours). Best used in a sound proof cupboard or use earplugs. Will cause tinni...

Re: Collectibles
When we sold the house we talked to an old estate sale auctioneer. We didn't have enough stuff for him to bother with but he told me that the collectibles market peaked in the 1980s and it would never come back. In his opinion, the collectors were dying out and young people had no interest in colle...

Re: More on Vitamins: Do they work ?
I swear by vitamin B to prevent depression. My Family have issues with this problem and those that take bit. B on a regular basis all agree it helps to the point where if not taken, life can be a drag. Maybe not for everyone, but a lot better than some of the addictive drugs that can and are prescri...

Hi, yes I'm here
The Other knife is a Victorinox Skipper, which is used for opening the "eyes" not the body..
The Skipper is a great knife, but NOT up to cracking open coconuts.
cheers, and yes, I definitely been logged in recently... probably to someone's annoyance !

Re: Kidney Stones?
I know of two people who have had great success with getting rid of Kidney stones when apparent, by drink pure (undiluted) orange juice which dissolved the stones to stage they were passed as small smooth crystals like sand. One chap said that if He hadn't been peeing into a small container, he woul...
