Re: Stolen money!

[googlevideo][/googlevideo] Sorry to hear that. That’s a bummer for sure. Yep, I have had something like that happen fairly recently—but with my debit card. I think it all ended up fairly well, but it was no fun. I'm quite well versed with the debit card fraud. Have dealt with it 3 times. Gas stati...

Well, those two pretty much cover all your bases.
Nice choices, I have to admit, my BOB is outfitted the same with addition of a serrated Endura.

Re: do i NEED a rajah 2?

Yep, go for it. Mine is a lot of fun. 7+ years old in Aus. 8. I am careful to open it two handed around strangers.. Friends love to hear the "thwack" when it's waved. I carry mine in a canvas belt sheath I've made. It is served me well when living in Coastal Fiji. It doesn't have the weigh...

Well, I have a moat...

Agreed about the Walking Dead, it does entertain, but sometimes rings a bell, in so much that it can make me think, "oh yeah, never thought about that"

Living at the head of a gorge like I do, if the road were taken out or blocked really good it would extremely hard for people to get to my place.
So, do you consider that a good thing or not?

Re: Are you even marginally prepared?

Probably. I live on Sailboat (offshore capable) Solar panels+wind generator + 2kva Honda generator + salt water desalinator. 400 litres of diesel. Fish can be caught off boat. LOTS of rice and lentils and Pressure cooker. (Essential) Lots of good books and DVDs. Main issue is isolation, even being a...

Hi, how about filling that hollow alloy shaft with 2 x pot Epoxy?

Remove threaded insert (heat) then fill.

You could even put some glass fibre rolled up inside to increase strength.

Re: Diamond impregnated steel blade

Here, in the South is. Where Nephrite (jade) is mined, 50 years ago when doing my Trade as a Jeweller, I spent years cutting Stone. The guys in river would find a large boulder, place the chainsaw engine on it with a 3ft copper saw blade. Diamond paste was smeared on edge then started spinning. The ...

Re: 2021 Multi-tool Review

If you find a MT that suits your purpose, maybe you could just remove the sharp/pointy bits and replace them with a stainless steel washer.

This would allow other tools to be used without deflection and solve legal issue.

People’s parents actually give them sage advice, like “Do what you love, and the money will follow” or “The early bird gets the worm.” All I remember is “Don’t fill up on bread.”
Mine used to tell me that just before we went into the "all you can eat for a dollar" Buffet...

Re: Batteries For Flashlights And Other Toys?

I've used NiCad and now NiMh AA and AAA For last 20 yrs aboard Sailboat full time. Have had a bad run with enloop AAA past 12 months. They have leaked causing damage to torches. I'm very particular about running a fan to cool them and charger (Nitecore), so do not think it is a overheating issue. Ha...

I scrapped one of my old cars for chlorine tablet money. A sentence I never thought I'd type. What are you using the chlorine tabs for? Water purification? VoodooChild, is that Mt. Bike or Motorbike parts? We have issue with wood supply here as well. Timber mills were closing down everywhere past 5...

Short(age) stuff

Hi, just curious as to what product shortages you have noticed in your area ? Here it is 5 litre (gallon) plastic buckets. Darn near impossible to get hold of. weird. We use a lot for bulk mixing of polyester and Epoxy resin. Nitrile gloves have just jumped from $19. Per 100(50 pair) to $42. Ouch, b...
