Best way I know to really sharpen a difficult blade is this: Go to your local hobby store and get a set of sanding films. Use the medium (280, 320)grits to build an edge, finer (400, 600)grits to polish the edge and get it to paper shaving sharp. If that is not enough, do as another forumite already...

Wow. I thought some of our American companies were really good at taking people's money! I saw knives from Boker, Spyderco and several others by just taking a quick peek. Ironically, I did see one knife that was a carbon copy of a Magna tactical folder, which was a copy of designs from Kershaw and B...

As far as instinctual self-defense goes, try out a wide range of knives and carry what appeals to you. Practice with it, and make sure that the instincts of how to use it in a confrontation are solidly in your mind. Remember, however. All knives are useless in a confrontation if you do not have them...

I saw a show like this as well, but they did not stop at Spyderco knockoffs. I saw remakes of knives from Buck, Case, Knives of Alaska, Old Timer, and of course Spyderco. What eludes me is that they were selling 10 knives in lots of 12, with 30 more for their count of 150. Unless the knife was absol...

OK, my favorite knife to modify a bit would be the Chinook. I really like the design, but I think a few changes would make a great knife a spectacular one. 1.) Tip-up carry. It's annoying for someone who always uses tip-up to suddenly have a tip-down knife in the arsenal, as the strategy for use is ...

Easy, no contest. Endura, 50-50, in ATS-55. Strong as a steel cable, tough as an ex-Marine, darn near unbeatable. Of all the Spydies, not just what I own, I would have to say the Chinook. Nice and strong, big, with great steel. Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is. Edited by - Sword and Shield on 7...

All finishes will degrade over time, yet my experience has shown that powder-coated finishes tend to hold up the worst of any black finish, due to it basically being a coat of paint. Black-T or Black-TI tend to hold up very well, since the finish is bonded directly to the metal and is very difficult...

So many choices, so little time. I guess I'll have to go by purpose. Work- A Buck 450- I've beaten it half to death, and it still keeps going. Tactical- Kershaw Liner Action Tanto- opens as fast as a switchblade, cuts like a straight razor. Dressy- Case Russlock in Pocketworn Red Bone- sweet looking...

Here's an addition to what everyone else has said. After using whatever scratch removal method you prefer, take an old leather belt and rub that surface of the blade numerous times. This will polish out most scratches and leave the blade with a nicely polished finish. Be willing to mess up the belt ...

Just a few Spydie questions and remarks.
I picked up an Endura the other day, and it's just a great knife. I was curious as to caring for it, however, and had a few questions for the forum here. I have lurked in the background for a while, and this seems a good place to ask. 1.) How suseptible is the lock to pocket lint/dirt? Will it be ok...
