Hey DCD. Nice work as always. Your mods always look good. Any update on your bushcraft with moded handle Hey, thanks for that! I feel the pictures dont really do the ano justice. As far as the bushcraft goes, I ran into sort of a problem. One, just one, of the hole I was re-purposing for a grip pin...

I use my middle finger, behind the blade, to reach the spyderhole on the other side and flick it open. Its something I have been doing for a while, and can with most spyders. I find that because of the occluded hole, this method seems to be fastest for me. The angle at which my middle finger comes i...

I chose to compare M4 to S30V and M390 because those are the two steels I am most familiar with (along with 154CM). That way I can understand the differences. How do you mean "not in the same league" ? Oh ok, I was just curious. If you will refer to Jim Ankersons thread on edge retention/...

Does that really work? I wonder if you could do the same thing with polishing tapes or lapping films...

Welcom to the forum. Just so you know, there is such a thing as a private message here. calling out, or "pinging" as you say, a member specifically in a title is kind of weird. A PM would be much more efficient at getting in touch with jack. Then you post a general question. Personally I c...

Still sorting out issues with the steel. Any time we work with a brand new steel, there is a learning curve. sal "BRAND NEW STEEL" - Ok, sal, perhaps I am over-analyzing that last statement, but after all this talk about how M390 and 204P are the same, I take this to mean perhaps we will ...

Is 204p similar to m390? I know there conpositions are analogous to each other so does that mean their performance are expected to be the same? Given that both knives are Spyderco mules, that is. Pretty much they are the same, just different PM processes. One is third generation: Bohler Uddelholm M...

I really don't care of the material used I just want some colored clips. Ti clip would be cool :) . I just don't want painted because they look ratty to fast. It's only wire so how hard can it be!? You would care if it broke, or bent out of shape... The clips are ALREADY Titanium on many models (it...

I would love some after market color wire clips. My new techno is screaming for a blue clip to compliment the blue backspacer. Does anyone know of some after market options? Thanks As others mentioned, the wire clips are Ti not Al. I doubt you will see any for sale aftermarket, it would be very dif...

Hey jack, I have done some swapping with d'flys. You dont have anything to worry about, should turn out fine without having to match the lockbar. I would only bother doing that if it did not lock up satisfactorily. Then swap the bar. However, the lockbar could be different for the g10 v the FRN, foo...

yea I dont think I would bother trying to get a replacement. Odds are unless the owner is really interested in keeping your business he will not buy you a new one. However, this is nowhere near as bad as it could be, and you still have plenty of steel to work with. Someone at spyderco would be able ...

I imagine very good steels are $25/lb. I don't know if I would want to pay, say, double for S90V over S30V. (S30V isn't too shabby :-) ). lol, thats not how its measured... scrap metal is measured by the pound, high grade steels are generally priced per piece in small quantities, and by the square ...

In other words YES. I have had benchmades in s30v, and theirs cannot touch the spyderco HT. Spyderco seems to be the only knife company putting performace above all else.

M390 is pretty far from being what I would call established... Its a pretty new steel, much newer compared to M4, which has been around for several decades before it was adapted to knife usage. CPM M4 basically takes that ingot tool steel and increases all the good characteristics while refining gra...

Hey, what you are describing is a burr. its quite common on some knives, though rare on a spyder (depending on what factory made it, my italian Lionspy came with NO tip). You dont need to buy something that nice as mentioned, plus you would do better with something with a lower hardness and probably carbon steel. BUT that doesnt mean you need to get something cheap and crappy! I highly suggest you look up Condor knife and Tool, and buy whichever floats your boat. The...
