If you're using the Mule primarily for KP, you ought to grind off the guard. With the guard there, you can only get 40-50% of the blade to contact your cutting board. Where's the fun in that?

Especially when a steel like ZDP can stay strong in an FFG format like virtually none other. I think the decision has to boil down to ZDP putting up such a fight against the grinding factory.
