I got one for my son. He uses it for processing rabbits.
I liked it so much I got one for myself….
The Bow river is a full sized Phil Wilson design. The steel is perfectly adequate for my day to day use.
Get one, you will not be disappointed.

Re: Looking for an improvised Yojimbo 'light.' Any suggestions?
Have you considered the Jandelica or Jandura?
They are Mr Janich’s custom made reprofiled versions of the Delica and Endura.
The Kahr Arms Delica (above)was a model produced by Spyderco using the same profile.

Re: Just a pocket knife
Most days I carry a Slip-it as my main knife. As they cover most of my needs.
I appreciate their simplicity.
On weekends etc. I’ll add a Salt or other lockable folder depending on the ‘mission’.

Re: Byrd Tern: First Impressions
The Tern is a goldilocks knife, just right. When I got it the action was gritty so I gave it a warm bath which helped. The locking and unlocking are both easing as I use it more. I also bought the Up-Tern on the strength of this model https://i.postimg.cc/MKJY3kG6/IMG-0315.jpg Both of these are seco...

Re: Adjusting Boltaron
The best solution is to remove the scales and sand a bevel or chamfer on the leading edge of the scales to break the 90-degree angle. This creates a ramped surface that all knives made to fit in Boltaron/Kydex should have. Heating the sheath can work, but if you're not used to working Kydex, it can...

Re: Mass Extinction Event
I'm stunned at the loss of the wharnies. And puzzled. But as stated on the main forum, the time of the Byrds may be gone with all the high quality, inexpensive knives that have flooded the market. I think it might be possible to characterize a broad trend in the knife manufacturing, as well as comm...

Re: Adjusting Boltaron
Push hard…it’s pretty tight, and it is how you want a Boltron sheath. It will wear after a few weeks. Love the click of a lock in on a Boltron sheath….. The pictures show the result after I tried pushing in the blade with the sheath against a table and vice versa with the handle resting on the tabl...

Re: Adjusting Boltaron
Would applying heat carefully to the area be the solution Yes. A heat gun will work. I can't remember if I've used a hair dryer. Just be watchful so that you don't get it so hot that the plastic bubbles on the surface. Heat it up, stick the knife in, pull it out. After the sheath cools off a bit, t...

Adjusting Boltaron
I just received a Boltaron Mule sheath and I’m not able to get my Mule to ‘stable’ in there. https://i.postimg.cc/9RfRHDBj/IMG-0308.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/CBv8RGK1/IMG-0310.jpg [/img] The problem seems to to be where the lower part of the scales butts up against the sheath. Would applying h...

Re: Spyderco Seconds Sale Scores
Both the email confirmation and the invoice I’m the box said SE.
Mine too, strange.
Could it be SE Arks that were given the wrong edge ?
It did have a single nick in the blade edge maybe a minimalist SpyderEdge?

Re: Spyderco Seconds Sale Scores
The ARK is also fine, the edge needs a freshen up.But… I ordered the serrated version and received the plain edge. :eye-roll The only reason I added it to my order was I figured it was the only way to get a spyderedge ARK after the model was discontinued. Sorry about the negativity I’m just a littl...

Re: Spyderco Seconds Sale Scores
I also ordered the serrated ark and got a plain edge too. I’m not real happy. I too only ordered the SE because it’s discontinued. The plain edge ark second sans sheath was not a particularly good deal at $63 when you can get a new one with sheath for under $83. I tried to contact customer service v...

Re: Spyderco Seconds Sale Scores
I’ve received my order today. :smlling-eyes Lil’ Native slipjoint. Aqua Salt SE and ARK. The lock bar on the ‘Native stands a little proud approx. .5mm. Not a problem for me. Very nice, chunkier than I imagined. The Aqua I honestly cannot see where the fault is… my first time handling one, I see why...

Re: A Month Without Spyderco: Thoughts & Observations
One of my main reasons, disregarding ethics, for not buying Chinese is more to do with the lack of choice in lock types.
They mostly seem to be titanium frame lock or linerlock knives.
Where are the mid and backlock options?
They also seem to be styled rather than designed, if that makes sense?

Re: Spyderco Seconds Sale Scores
Almost all of you would be surprised that it does not take that many people hitting RELOAD to overwhelm a website. Spyderco is not likely to lease bandwidth costing many tens of thousands of dollars for a one day seconds sale. Fair enough. From a sys admin's viewpoint, what are possible solutions, ...
