Deacon's pics on that initial review also show the M2 having a slightly thicker tip than the Mini Manix (even with the 3.5 vs 4mm blade stock). I don't mind having a thicker tip as it's not going to be a flat razor anytime soon, without help from a belt sander at least. The M2 remains a very robust ...

There is nothing wrong with having pride in your country. Be thankful you have the freedom to choose which products you buy. But be informed about where your money is going. China is not a free country, in fact, it is still under communist rule. And it is not an ally of the USA. Taiwan is a US ally...

I would consider myself a patriot as well. However, part of the problem is that some products do not have an "American" competitor. TV's, misc electronics, even the auto industry is extremely contrived these days. Half the domestics are assembled in Mexico with only 25% American content (G...

R&D and Quality Control go a long way regardless where/who makes the knife for a company. Even Spyderco's price-point knives (Tenacious/Persistance) that earned the Round hole feel/work like $60+ knives. I would not be one bit concerned about the "made in Taiwan" marking because based ...

Minus certain models (like Hawkbills), it seems that PE outsells SE at least 2 to 1. I'm basing this off vendor "quantity" listings and how quick certain models sell out once released while SE's linger forever. That said, SE is an amazing product and in most cases out-cuts it's PE counterp...

Update from bladeforums from Sal on the Manix 2: We'll be making a variety of the Manix2 pattern with various combinations. The next is a carbon fiber (peel-ply) full, skeletonized liners, full flat CPM-S90V blade. I've been carrying one for a couple of days. Eric will give you a "heads up"...

I've used my E4 SE in ZDP quite a bit, on cardboard and some wood... apart from foodpred. I have yet to sharpen it, because it's still sharp ! I have 2 small "dinks" in the first scallop though, but that was me being stupid and trying to cut into metal... Just missed that due t...

I would think an Aqua Salt in full SE would be a great "all purpose" camp blade. H1 isn't ZDP but it definitely wont rust and the serrations give edge retention. H1/VG10 are less chip resistant for heavy-duty cutting than ZDP (which also has a lower corrosion threshold traded for it's hard...

If your looking for edge holding ability a full serrated (or combo edge) in ZDP would prob cut for a couple years without a problem (not shaving sharp but sawing sharp). For sharpening, you could send it into Spyderco for $5. SE will cut longer and with less pressure than a Plain Edge. If you don't ...

If you are considering a Rock Lobster, I just thought I'd point out that it's very likely you could get the Terzoula slip-it and the Manix2 both for less than the price of the Rock Lobster. I'm not trying to detract or dissuade you from the Rock Lobster (I also want one) but rather just throwing ou...

I just got my Manix 2 Monday (7/20/09) I believe. I am still breaking it in and I got something on the blade and pivot so I was washing the blade with hot water. The next day I believe I was putting some lubricate in the pivot and lock and now the blade seems to jiggly a bit in the closed position ...

G10, steel liners, back lock, almost 4" blade. It's alot of materials. The Tenacious is actually pretty light because of the flow-through Frame Lock and hollowed steel liners. Not sure if the liners on the Cara Cara are drilled. Irregardless, a 4" blade is going to be a pretty heavy knife....

You have a nice selection so far. Makes it tougher :) I like the Bob T. but that Ti-Sage would be hard to push out of the pocket as a "Gentleman's Folder." The Rock Lobster would arguably be the best hard work knife with the blade shape while the M2 would be a nice 3.5" heavy duty fol...

I suspect you are confusing the ball lock (which is most definitely a lock) and the ball bearing slippit (think D'Allara/Polliwog/Manix2 etc). The drop point UKPK is sometimes referred to as a UKStretchPK or UKPK Stretch now. There's little point in fitting a full size stretch with a slippit mechan...
