Re: Manix II spring tension

Cannot do that with the Cruwear (one finger unlocking) - definitely need two fingers, but one handed operation is fine, I don't feel like I need to use excessive force.

Re: Manix II spring tension

??? Can't remember having an issue with my first Manix 2 (G10 / 154 CM, I don't own it any more).
Never had a problem with the CF / Cruwear, just firm enough to avoid accidental unlocking.

Re: Real world edge retention

No way that I am going to use one of my knives in a plate, ever, just thinking of it makes me cringe. Absent the kitchen knives, I'd still prefer to use fingers and teeth. Or I eat from a wooden board, especially stuff from the BBQ.

Re: Manix backlock

I am using mine in alternance with the CF/Cruwear version, and it's such a great knife (both are). That you cannot flick it is irrelevant to me.

There is a Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment forum on Blade Forums where you should be able to get some additional good advice.

So that's it? We now need an Apple & Knife SOP to slice and eat an apple? Any relevant federal regulations to include?

Like the OP, whatever variant of whatever model is in the making, I wish Spyderco would lose the unfortunate press-fit lanyard tubes found on some models...

Re: Sheepsfoot models, speak up!

I don't think that the Millie or PM2 blade shapes (or Police for that matter) lend themselves well to a sheepfoot variant.
Manix or Shaman or Native blades would be more easily redesigned into a sheepfoot IMO.
Just my 2 cents :)

Yes I was also thinking Police 4, with its 4.4 in. blade - Must be a good slicer? (I don't own one).

Re: Interest in Cruwear

Cruwear is quite stainless and more so than D2, CPMD2 or PSF27 in my experience. I have yet to see Cruwear rust, pit or discolor and have used it for a lot of food prep, gardening (plant goo) and I even left it sitting in a glass of white vinegar for over two hours and nothing. I have seen more cor...

Re: Spyderco Knife Of The Year 2017

1 - Shaman (which I consider a new design, although it is based on the Native 5)
2 - Manix 2 Backlock (second to the Shaman only because it's a variant of an existing design)
3 - Darn Dao (exceptional, but won't be as easily used or widely sold as the two others).

Happy New Year to everyone.

Re: Controversial Spyderco Military Issue: All feedback welcomed!

Here it is: The current Military and Para Military blade profiles and point profiles are too thin and too narrow for my tastes. That's exactly why I am sticking to the Manix and never took the leap of buying a Military, even though I have been looking for long for a Spyderco with a longer blade (ye...
