Re: RESCUE rarity?

Oh, that was a beautiful piece of history then ! Couldn't pull the trigger on it last night and after 6 months on the website someone bought it. There is still tons of old models like the Spyker there tho !

Thanks for the answer and the little story on top.

Re: Sharpening the unsharpen

I sharpen that little un-sharpened portion away, the first time I sharpen. One of the members here posted a photo of how he deals with that un-sharpened spot. He puts a small sharpening choil there, but he makes it like a single serration, so it is very sharp, so if anything got caught in it - it g...

Re: Reason for Reveal delay ?

Sorry to derail the thread, but had to ask: Are you going to make folders or fixed blades with your new steel? (Or both?) Keep us posted. Sounds like a fun project. I'm starting with fixed blades, making them by stock removal. I'll have a maker train me to make a folder in a bit less than a month !

Re: Sharpening the unsharpen

Thanks for the answers, I really took my time for this, but I guess if i do it again i'll be more efficient. Btw, the s110v on this N5 LW feels pretty chippy, I managed to create micro-chips while sharpening it ! Didn't happen the 2 first times I sharpened it, I thought I was really paying attention...

Sharpening the unsharpen

Hello Spydeople, I've been "bothered" by the unsharpen part of the blade on some models and finally decided to do something about it. I've used my diamond bonded resin whetsones (from venev) to sharpen that part, trying to raise the new secondary bevel to the level of the existing one. The...

Re: Cleaning the sharpening rods

In my house, everything that is ceramic or diamond is being cleaned like @FaithfulPastor said. I do this as soon as I have finished/moved to another stone. Always worked well. For the residues left by the eraser, my hand can get them off easy, I sometimes use tap water if I feel like it's useful (do...

Re: Reason for Reveal delay ?

Dune comes out the end of this month and The Wheel of Time next month. There's something to look forward to. I just got out of watching Dune ! That was more epic than I thought :cheap-sunglasses Concerning the reveal, I proudly announce that a sheet of XC75 (1075 steel) arrived yesterday, I'll be m...

I wasn't sure I could request one to get shipped to France.
I tried just before posting this message. It would have a nice place showcased between my Hellbazer collection and Sandman collection !

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

Its wonderfully average, I think it fits most hands very well. Do you have a sharpmaker? It is essential in the "spyder edge experience" :winking-tongue I do not ! I have tons of free hand stuff for sharpening, and a guided system. I think I'll invest in a Sharpmaker anyway just because o...

Re: On which knife did you learn how to sharpen?

Kitchen Chef knives with japanese whetsones. And then an old Boker flipper (BO55, but not the boker plus one, can't find any name) and tons of Opinel Carbon of all sizes.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

Why did I read this thread? I am now sold on the idea that my next knife (Spyderco obviously) will be in SE configuration. Now, it is the model that is gonna be important... Endela, Para 3 LW, another of my beloved Native 5s in a new steel, or something else entirely? I would even be more enclined ...

The Stretch and/or Stretch 2 are knives I only discovered recently and the blade shapes it offers and the whole knife in itself seems soo soo good ! K390 is the cherry on top

Re: Blade Grinds: Pros and Cons

Very high hollow grind ! A chap'-like Spyderco, with a bit more length and a hollow would take the throne the Opinel sits in when it comes to cutting "saucisson sec"

==> it did translate to "dry sausage", I'm not convinced by this... :squinting-tongue
