I carry a Leatherman Wave (the old one with real screwdrivers instead of those crappy bits), a mini-prybar on my keyring all the time and a couple more of the little bars in my shirt pocket at work. Not to derail the thread, but what's the issue w/the new Wave's replaceable screwdriver bits? Reason...

I literally LOL'ed out your post Jazz. I too have been carrying a JP Toucan (and a couple of others around for 8 months on my keys) and much like you, aside from opening a couple of packages, the main result is a series of nice assorted sore red spots way too close to some of my favorite parts. Perh...

I'm not much on altered/pimped knives L C Kid, but that is amazing! Reminds me of some of Alan Davis' customs...sweet!

I have been looking at this interesting knife and I think I am going to pick one up. Tell me do the titanium scales get marked up with the other stuff in your pockets? And does the pocket clip bend too much? That was a you tube remark I noticed. It seems the folks here love it but a few think it is...

I've been carrying mine every day for nearly 13 months. I bought it with the intention it holding me over until a few "better" knives became available to me. The "better" knives (including 2 CRKs) have come & gone while the Techno continues to ride shotgun. I believe it migh...

The Techno hasn't caught my interest because the handle appears to leave your index finger right on the edge of the blade. Have any of you had a problem with this? I was wary of this aspect of the handle prior to purchasing as well, since like many I usually prefer finger choils, but it hasn't been...

Thanks for your thoughts about the Techno. I'm amazed at how many similar threads there are where people get this knife on a whim or out of mild curiosity...have second thoughts...then ultimately come to EDC it over everything else they own. Like most, I liked the look of the Techno initially but th...

Specifically...(1) More small'ish (3" or less) beefy Ti framelock collabs w/custom knife makers utilizing superior steels like the Techno. My dream grail would be a Michael Burch collab of one of his small folders like the Midtech Dao, etc. only more affordable, like $150/180 street price, and ...

DTM stones are way too expensive :( also, the techno I got, I can do the push cut(hair wiggling sharp) but it can not slicing. <-- I know it is weird. If you're attempting to use the Techno to slice through a dense thick medium, then yes...the thick spine will hinder your progress. You'll be better...

I use a Techno for EDC most of the time and cut a variety of things, and don't use the SM but DTM stones with aligner and strop. I sharpen to 30 degrees inclusive and even at that, mine will easily push cut PB paper, news print, and shave hair. In fact, I have always marveled at how well the Techno ...

Gongrats on the new knife...its the one that started my interest in Spyderco, especially Taichung products a few years ago. Tough to find a better $100 EDC folder considering f & f, materials, clip, ergos, etc.

count me in for one! but for what i understand it's a MarcinS proto, not a Spyderco/Marcins proto. Hmm...are you sure of that? The title thread "SpydeChef - concept kitchen framelock folder by MarcinS" seems to imply it is a Spydy colab? There was a similar thread on BF ( http://www.blade...

Glad someone resurrected this thread...I saw a pic of this folder in another recent thread discussing Marcin's Mouse folder and since I've gone absolutely nuts for the Techno, I've been craving another one of his Spyderco colabs in a larger folder, hopefully w/XHP again...and this one really speaks ...

Studey: I'm certainly no expert, and am familiar with carbidizing or adding a steel insert but hadn't heard of the "wear hardening" process either until I was doing some research before buying my first Ti frame lock folder(s) and saw several posts on various forums that sometimes mentioned...

I was under the impression the lock-bar face on most quality RIL type frame-locks eventually became "wear hardened" through use...thus slowing to a large degree the wear and usually stopping 50/80% on the blade tang, preventing the lock-bar from completely moving to the opposite scale? My ...

I own zero frame lock knives. If I were going to pick up a decent Titanium framelock for $150 or less what would you recommend? Or are there many available for that price range? My 1st choice would be the Techno (approx. $155 @ eBay)...2nd, Sage 2 (approx. $145 Amazon) *prices as of today. I had th...

I'll blame you. ;) I keep going for the tail end to change things... That habit will need some work. What other magnetic control ring lights do you think are worth a look? Well...my interest in flashlights begins and ends with small single cell AA/14500, CR123/16340/18350 lights and on occasion if ...

A set, indeed! My SC52 arrived yesterday and I'm really impressed. A great leap forward over my various AAA, AA, and CR123 models (much loved but dated) from Fenix, Nitecore, 4Sevens, LiteFlux and Maratac. Not a hint of green in the beam, a hotspot so big as to be nearly floody, and a very intuitiv...

Donut: I have nothing definitive to offer re the ZL broken lens issues other than remembering reading some threads a year or two ago pertaining to the SC51 if memory serves. I've seen nothing like that with the SC52 although I think I saw a couple of instances where an issue with a DOA driver was re...
