Does anybody know if he changed the pocket clip design? Will it now take the standard 3 screw clip? I've got an extra DLC deep carry clip that I believe this knife will be dieing for. Hoping it will be a match!
Last Kevin mentioned it’s the regular spoon clip: like the one on the Para 2.

Re: Ikuchi

Paul: I just wanted to comment that I love the use of the hole in the handle as a modern take/homage to the little icon/embellishment that is so common to older knives. I immediately knew what you were aiming for with that! This is going to be a fun design to carry and use, and my son has already cl...

One from waaaay back, and one from not so way back. Two of my favorite Spyderco knife families:

Re: Ikuchi

Paul - quick question in regards to the part I bolded above. I use to own a Boker Kwaiken. Nice knife, but when closed the edge was very close to the open backside of the knife. Most times it was no issue, but I did spook myself a bit once when I grabbed the knife once and felt the edge brush again...

Re: Para 3 Lightweight?

Shorter Version: I’ve had lots of FRN Spyderco knives and loved them all, and never felt they were lacking. FRN is really durable and comfortable, in my opinion. Longer Version: Almost all my Spyderco knives have been an FRN format over the years: cricket, dragonfly, delica 3, ladybug, manbug, Nativ...

Re: Spyderco new FRN Lightweights: What do you think will be the best?

My Spyderco EDC is a Caly 3.5, great size good blade length. As a wiser forum member than me once put it, it's almost an Endura in blade length but almost a Delica in handle length. Can't ask for better than that. My first 10 or so Spyderco models were FRN (Cricket, Dragonfly with molded clip, Deli...

Re: Smock Anticipation

I don't have Instagram, could you elaborate on what kind of modding he's talking about? Interesting he's already discussing mods when we don't even have the knife yet! I don’t have Instagram (or any social media) either. But I do check in on his public posts occasionally. Scales and stone washing t...

Re: Smock Anticipation

I renamed the thread since 2018 is long gone.

Also, if you check Kevin’s instagram, he’s got an announcement about modding the Spyderco Smock when they’re finally released.

Re: Is the Smock still coming in 2018?

I’ve been keeping an eye on Kevin’s Instagram. I’m sure he’ll tell us as soon as he knows.

And Sal and gang are surely working to make sure we get the best product. I’m happy to wait, even if I’m overly impatiently waiting. :D

Re: Is the Smock still coming in 2018?

Btw Gibson, love your forum picture. Office Space was one of my favorite films, and as I get older... the more I relate to it haha. The longer I work in cubicle-land (even though I technically work from home—the work culture is the same) the more I think “If I could do it over, I’d pick skilled tra...

Re: Is the Smock still coming in 2018?

Based on Sal’s comments in November and the holidays slowing things down, my assumption is it’s coming sooner than later. I’m not shocked by its absence in the reveal since its in the regular catalog for 2019.

Regardless of the wait, I’ll be there for it!

Lil Native Compression in FRN...would be a fantastic first knife

Both of my kids (boy, 11 and girl, 7) are eager for their first Spyderco. I know most of us probably grew up with slip joints or lockbacks, but the compression lock seems like a great first knife lock mechanism. Keeps the fingers out of the way. I’d love to see the lil native compression lock in frn...

Caly 3 Hap40. Can’t wait! I’ve had some form of the Calypso/Caly Jr/UKPK for years, but never a Caly 3.

Smock Anticipation

Next to the fantastic Brouwer, the Smock was my most anticipated blade for this year.

Any indication if it still is expected to drop this calendar year?

Swedish Barrel Knife

Over on CPF I saw an EDC picture including a Swedish barrel knife. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen or heard of these before. I’ve attached a few pics and a link to a thread about the knife. I think it’s an interesting concept and imagine Spyderco could do some really fun things with the design elemen...

Re: Freehand sharpening: a conversion in progress?

I’ll also note that all my EDC knives are s30v or XHP. May get s110v one of these days.

My tasks are fairly light: mail, tape, fruit. Rarely but occasionally harder like twigs or cardboard.
