Re: 2024 OpFocus Seconds Sale?
It was the end of June in 2022. That was the time I left my purple folding chair up there and you very kindly shipped it home to me.

I have been cutting him slack, mostly because I figured it was an April Fool's Day prank. Yes, we all have to start somewhere, but if he truly wants to learn, I suggest he start by learning to communicate in a less belligerent manner.

Re: mini spyderco knives
Welcome to the forum. The value will depend on exactly what you have. If it is the "Bug" set (Bug, Honeybee and Grasshopper in one box) it might be worth a few dollars, but probably not much, especially with the Grasshopper missing.

Re: Crucarta, what's going on?
Unlike the above poster, I have seen quite a few posts with this exact complaint around the Internet in the various Spyderco and knife groups. It just seems to be part of the crucarta version, either due to micarta as yablanowitz said or something with the design. If you want a PM2 to use like that...

Re: Which Mariner do i have?
thanks for the feedback. i guess i wanted to find out if spyderco put a black coating on the Mariners that have dry vents? They did do a factory black coating on some first-generation Mariners, but I've found no mention of it on second generations like yours. That doesn't mean they didn't, but judg...

Re: Crucarta, what's going on?
Yeah, they are.
They've even given us the Micarta we demand in spite of their past experience with the material. Dimensional changes and warpage due to changes in humidity, temperature and altitude are known issues with Micarta.

Re: Knife that screams liner lock got the compression lock - why?
One thing that always feels a little off with regard to the comp lock is the somewhat unnatural way I have to pinch the knife with basically just my fingertipps when disengaging the lock. When disengaging a liner lock the contact area is much greater since the knife kind of rests on the phalanxes o...

Re: "Putting" "words" "in" "quotation" "marks"
If it is in a post of mine, I promise it is intentional. Most often I'm pointing out someone's misuse of a term, which happens more often than quotes around random words.

Re: Knife that screams liner lock got the compression lock - why?
..... The unfortunate disadvantages of this design style are that it creates a hot spot where your hand grips the single scale and the knife cannot be readily opened with the left hand . Stay safe, Mike Thanks for bringing that up on behalf of southpaws, Mike. Although most of us have eventually le...

Re: Bodacious Update?
Just wanted to share that I think this is a really beautiful design for a working tool. At a $260 street price this is pretty firmly out of the “working tool” category. It does look nice though. Maybe for you. I have plenty of working tools over that mark. Semantics. I read Zhyla's post as meaning:...

Re: Spyderco Sinkevich Drunken.
I was confused by the "new" description. The Spyderco was probably being designed at about the same time as your Z.T. It first appeared in the 2018 mid-year supplement. Given the relative sizes of Spyderco and KAI, I would expect the latter to be a bit quicker to market.

Re: Knife that screams liner lock got the compression lock - why?
Why? Because "stronger is better", even if the knife doesn't really need a lock at all. So applications where the liner lock is adequate instead get the compression lock. Personally, I pretty much pass on any knife that uses the comp lock now. I have a bunch of them, and carry none unless ...

Re: Roadie: Tell Me About This Knife
I have two, but I seldom use them. They are small knives, and I have size XXL hands, so I have a bit of trouble using them. They are non-locking and not pointed since they were designed for airline travel when the FAA was considering lifting the ban. They are nice little cutters for routine tasks.

Re: G-10 Hawkbill Anyone?
My SPOTs are reverse-S. At that size, you get about 3/8" of hawkbill. At least the handle is almost big enough to hold on to, even though the ergonomics are terrible, at least for me. I did get a chuckle this morning when I saw this thread right next to the "Upping the price" thread. ...

I have a few Emersons. The ones I have never held an edge very well in my normal use, in spite of his claims about hard use. I moved on years ago.

I have one - a Swayback - because it was on clearance at the last Seconds Sale. That is the only reason I have any of them.
