@OldSarSwmr, Good to see another Coastie on here. Thank you for your service. I am guessing you spent time in Kodiak based on your reference to the Bering Sea. I spent time there on the 210 that was home-ported there. I think they moved her out before your time though. She wasn't suited for the roug...

I am a former Coast Guardsman from way back, 1970's. CGLefty has explained the purpose of no clip very well. The knives we had in those days had no clips either but we used sheaths. The Buck 110 and the Gerber Folding Sportsman were the most popular models hanging on belts. I was a seaman and a coxs...

Yet Another Lube. MPro7-LPX

This is not a new lube but it is popular with gun owners. I was lucky to get a 4oz bottle free from a friend cleaning their garage. Internet research shows it is a synthetic lube base with a molybdenum component. Anyway I tried on my knives and have been pleasantly surprised. My Para2 opens super sm...

Someone earlier mentioned the idea of a Mule Team club. That has some merit IMO. If a member decided to pass on a knife or decide later on after getting the knife they didn't want it then it could be sold to another member on the forum. But as many have stated already, there is no sure way to stop f...

Since the Chaparral is made in Taiwan, I wonder if the bronze will be smooth and rounded like their titanium scales?

A shackle. Some you can use the marlin spike itself to loosen/tighten. Others will need the key.

If you work in a office setting or similar, the Chapparal would be the one to go with. Otherwise the Delica is a great all around knife. The Chapparal is more of a gentlemens folder but it is a great knife in its own accord.

It just depends on your situation and what your usage of the knife will be.

Before you give up on the Para, try loosening the stop pin screws. They are just aft of the pivot on top of the scales. Sometimes these come really torqued tight. Loosening those and perhaps some pivot adjustment should make your knife easy to open.

Someone gave me a bottle of MPro7-LPX. It is supposed to stay wet yet not attract contaminants. I haven't tried it yet but the reviews I have seen are favorable.

It would seem the new Tatanka is right up the OP's alley. The Battlestation is another folder to look at and for just plain scaring people there is the Roc. I'm waiting for the first TV show or movie to show that knife.

I have a Southard and I have found that using a light touch on the Sharpmaker works the best. I use the brown rods the most and then finish with the fine. Any pressure during sharpening seems to defeat the purpose. It also takes a bit of patience.

Is today's Buck 110 the same as back in the seventies for example? I didn't buy a Buck but I bought a Gerber Folding Sportsman which was pretty much comparable and it wasn't cheap then. This was 1976. I cannot remember the price due to poor memory but I wonder if todays $100 knife is the same dollar...

I know this should not get political but bear with me for a moment. In the past the government was spending money on infrastructure. During the LBJ administration this changed over to spending on social needs and that has accelerated in recent years. Now you have a large portion of society that is d...

I used the sharp maker stones to round the two offending points on the clip ever so slightly. It didn't take very long and the style of the clip is maintained. If the clip is tight when putting the knife in your pocket, try clipping it onto a small pad of paper about ⅛" thick and leave it overn...

I have had mine for over a year and it has no issues with the lock. In fact I cannot see that the lock has moved at all and I open mine quite a bit. I didn't vote in the poll since I do not own a Domino.

Right side cargo pocket, tip down except for the Southard as I don't clip it. I just have it loose in the pocket. As it is tip up only I get nicked when I bump the end of the knife.
