Re: Manix 2 LW killer?

I have been watching this thread and trying to form a response. It’s simple for me, the Manix LW despite the pinned construction has the wire clip, the CBBL lock and a preferable blade shape. That makes it a better knife for me. Nothing wrong with K390 or the backlock, I prefer the blade shape of th...

Re: Clip Finish

My Salt Dragonfly clip is wire, seems to be polished more than my Superleaf or Positron. Or even my non Salt Dragonflies. Is it the same wire? Or a more stainless steel?

Thanks. I’m in. Sounds like you need an AICD, that would do the work of your life vest but internally. More features than the pacemaker. Feel free to PM me if you have questions. I know a little about this subject.

Re: Spyderco Folder Models You Would Like To See In A Fixed Blade

I like the Bradford Guardian with the sheepsfoot. Thanks for the suggestion. My favorite fixed blade Spyderco (which they should bring back) is the discontinued Cook’s knife. Perfect for the kitchen.

Re: Spyderco Folder Models You Would Like To See In A Fixed Blade

Have you tried the Ronin 2? It's a fixed-blade version of the Yojimbo 2 & might fit your need for a fixed-blade Wharncliffe. I have one & it makes for a good small outdoors utility/EDC knife. The handle could be a little thin for some people, but I think that's part of the original design re...

My wife has a Swiss Army knife for the purse. Doesn’t want to change 🙁. We both use and she loves the Z-Cuts and Counter puppy.

Re: Spyderco Folder Models You Would Like To See In A Fixed Blade

I would like to see a fixed blade Wharncliffe or Sheepsfoot. Less than 3.5 inches. Kydex sheath. I don’t really care if it’s based on a folder though.

Re: Place to myself & A week of choice

I usually carry one knife for a week or so then switch. Right now I have a classic in my pocket. A SuperLeaf. I do switch to a Dragonfly 2 in H1 for bike rides. I like your rotation from last week. Maybe you could document weekly for a while and share your changing tastes?

Re: Dipped Spyderco in rust converter

Did you try searching for the Safety data sheet for the rust remover? There’s supposed to be a sheet for everything in use in the US because OSHA I think. All the ones that I need are online at work (not a sophisticated in house techno wonder system). The data sheet or MSDS shouldn’t be too hard to ...

What’s the best way to sharpen toothy or polished edge?
Is it more like sharpening BD1N or a crew wear?
PM me. I like the steel and will take it off your hands, no charge! :winking-tongue

Re: I Have a Crazy Request, But This Is the Place For It

It’s a crazy request. If any knife company would listen it’s this one. As for liability I think in the first 100 sold you would have 40 ruined blades from overzealous use of belt grinders and Ken Onion worksharps and many more blades sharpened on pull through sharpeners. Now you have bad edges and r...

Re: Lost in the Shuffle

Bear in mind that Sal, on hearing the D’Allara3 closing complaint, actually pushed back on the complaint, a rare thing for him. That’s interesting. I don’t know what to make of it but it’s intriguing. I suppose that the design turned out the way it should. For a reason he intended. That a user migh...

Re: Lost in the Shuffle

The ball is indeed slippery and does require you to use your thumb and index-finger differently than you would on a Manix2 (I have a bunch and love’em). More a thumb-dig than a pinch on the D’Allara3. The Manix2 is certainly easier to close, but its cage, considering its construction and placement,...

Re: Magna Cut Above

I’m looking forward to this steel in a Spyderco model. I just hope it’s released in large enough numbers to be readily available in the market. My nightmare scenario is a flash batch/sprint run dribbling of limited availability for a year or two.

Tropen, Watu, Smock. Big and weird, small and unique, best comp lock.
