Re: Opinions Wanted: Top 5 Best Spydercos
Interesting choices. Mine are not in order. I had trouble limiting my list to 5. The Military, Paramilitary and Chapparal are all tied for 6th. The Superleaf was also a contender. I could get by with the Chapparal or Dragonfly and one of the larger blades and that would serve all my pocketknife “nee...

Re: Food Grade Mineral Oil
Is Vaseline “food grade”? I guess, but OP didn’t say, he uses the knives for food prep? Otherwise any mineral oil would be okay?

Re: Sticky compression lock
That’s tough losing your favorite knife. Why not save up for a sprint? I have come to love both my PM 2’s. S35 VN and S110 V. The blurple will grow on ya! I hated the Coyote on the S 35 model so much I changed to custom scales but I switched back recently and I like the brown just fine. No lock stic...

Thanks. I will need to do this myself sometime again and this will help. Last time it took two pair of pliers and some strong language.

Shaman is my first choice, a wharncliffe on any locking knife would be second.

Re: Para3 LW Black DLC on Amazon?
I don’t buy knives on Amazon anymore because their market is overrun with fraud and fakes. I have bought genuine Spydies on there in the past and if you get a fake you should be able to return it. Instead of the hassle I would buy from a reputable online shop. I have had good experiences with several.

Re: Smock owners
I guess you’re referring to the hollow grind, so I will address that. I prefer (in the abstract) a FFG blade but except for food prep I find the real world difference negligible. The deployment, and especially the lock are amazing. This is one of a few flippers I own but it’s much easier to deploy t...

Re: Wharncliffe Delica interest
I like Sheepsfoot and Wharncliffe blades very much. The Delica doesn’t move the needle much for me. I think the Wharncliffe Endura looks like a great knife for working with rope.

I voted Shaman but if you can handle the knives I would go with the best feel in hand.

Re: Sage 5.2
My very favorite lock (kind of like picking a favorite child, very difficult) is the button comp lock on my Smock. I would love to see a Sage with either the button comp lock or a CBBL like the one on the Manix.

Re: How many knives do you typically carry?
I always have 2. Roadie on my keychain and a folder right front pocket. Other keychain (2nd car) has a Leatherman mini tool on it. Chores around the house it’s the folder and a Leatherman either an old style Wave or a Skeletool with the upgraded blade steel.

Re: H-1 is subpar???
I’m going to commit sacrilege here and suggest another maker. David Boye, the inventor of the Boye dent used on so many Spyderco knives makes folders in a cast dendritic Cobalt alloy. The knives have titanium marlin spikes and are small (3 inch blade), backlocks and have great edge retention. Cobalt...

Thanks and I’m in! Very kind of you. I couldn’t make it to the sale this year but I can confirm it’s ability to destroy a budget! So many cool knives and too little moneys.
