Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral
I’m starting to think I will probably actually prefer this one over my Raffir Noble..by a long shot. I might ask for this for Christmas if it drops by then. I sold my RN version. To me it's, the type of knife you have to purchase in person, as the scales vary between units. My CF Chaparral is my fa...

You should be fired from that company. You're knowingly disregarding their rules.

Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral
I hope that's it. Glad to see it's not any flashy colors. I'll reserve judgement on the scales, until I have it in hand. My last hope is that it doesn't have any of that "1st Run" type markings on the blade.

Re: Amazing what some things cost
Do you realize how many people in the normal world say the same about someone spending $100 or more for any knife?

Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral
Assuming everything has been finalized, I guess I don't understand all the secrecy behind releasing the specs, etc. One can only assume, the final product has not yet been decided, which mean there's a better chance of Hillary getting elected in 2020, than there is us seeing a released FRN/Lightweig...

Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral
The issue I have with the RN version is that unless you're purchasing it in person, it's a crapshoot as to whether or not you'll get scale patterns that appeal to you.
I sold mine because of the undesirable looks that particular scale had.

Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral
I can answer definitively about the liners, as long as nothing changes from the sample at Blade Show 2017. There are definitely liners. They are skeletonized, and they're inset further into the handles than the previous models. I'd guess they're somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of the height of the sc...

Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral
Having seen no photos I am wondering if this FRN version will have the same blade configuration and lock as the present version but have lighter weight FRN without liners and if the handle configuration will remain the same or be re-shaped for the FRN material? And, finally, will it cost less than ...

I'm assuming it will be liner less, like the Native-5.

Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral
We've got production in-house. I carried one today. It was one of my "baby's so I've been on it. I know it's a first run piece, and I'm certainly biased, but I think it's a winner. sal That's certainly encouraging. Can you share additional information with us, such as pictures, specs, order/re...

Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral
So, with all due respect, is this still going to be an offering ever, let alone in 2017?

Re: Chaparral with Micarta Scales / More Micarta-Handled Folders?
No sense in wasting any excitement over this. Spyderco can't seem to release the FRN version of the Chaparral that they've been talking about for the last couple years. No reason to feel this would ever happen within the next five years.

I see more people purchasing this for the donor blade as opposed to the total offering itself.

Re: Ladybug user experience?
Several years ago, I re-evaluated my EDC, with the mission of obtaining the most bang for the buck. I'm not skinning animals, chopping down trees or doing any other type of extreme tasks with my keychain knife. That's why I choose to carry a Classic or Rambler on my keyring. It gives me the cutting ...

Re: 2017 - Lightweight/FRN Chaparral
The CF Chaparral is my favorite offering from Spyderco. The FRN version is really the only new product that I've been looking forward to, across any manufacturer, for the last year or so. I just wish it available. I continue to have the feeling that this offering was never intended to be released, i...

I'd be curious to find out how long this have been in the pipeline, versus, say the FRN Chaparral.

Agreed. You said it better than I did.DutchBlades wrote:I'd go for CF. My RN Chaparral turned out to be my first regretful Spydie purchase. If you can't see the actual knife you're buying, unbalanced scales are a definite issue (for me at least).
