Re: Sandalwood: Any good recommendations?

I've used TOBS, Doc. Nice stuff. For shave quality I prefer AOS but TOBS is no slouch.

AOS is my favorite but I use the soap, not the cream.

Re: Moneyless World: Food and Knives: What would people choose?

Not sure much would change for me. I'm old enough to have experienced a wide variety of foods and knives, and mostly know what I prefer, and why. Same here. Only thing that would change is I would weigh 1000 pounds in under a year. I sit around 300 now and that's about all I can afford and haul bac...

Re: New bullet proof vest material

These guys are now carrying more than 80lbs of equipment into battle. I have seen some carrying in excess of 110lbs into battle situations. That is waaaayyyy too much weight. I know! They are amazing! Developments like this will surely help. I still wonder about the force transfer though. Well, the...

Re: New bullet proof vest material

That's awesome! Far reaching implications as they implied. Not just for aircraft but ground vehicles as well. Wonder what the load transfer is? Thinking of the bulletproof suit in John Wick 2. Hardly thicker than a regular suit, impenetrable but the impacts were still extremely painful. One of the b...

Yeah, to us it is. It's become a pretty derogatory comment among "the elite"

You're welcome Joe. Knew you'd appreciate it.

Re: Earth is round and orbits the sun. FACTS.

Wow, 1892 seems pretty late for a projection like that. The North American Datum (NAD '27 of the US Geological Survey) was established in 1927 and held for many decades until eventually updated by satellite... amazing. That's only 35 years earlier. The issue of course is fitting a ball to a flat (ak...

Maybe it is not seas rising from global warming caused by human activity, but all I know is Mother Nature is not building up beaches, beaches are disappearing. That isn't exactly true. Beaches are building up in some areas and eroding in others (as others have already kinda said) The issue is "...

Re: Boot Knives: Your views regarding them?

I can't remember for sure but I think Maxwell Smart had a boot or it may have been a shoe knife, anyhow the blade flicked out of the toe. I don't know much else about it but I thought that was pretty cool. ;) Jim West (Wild Wild West TV series) had that. Smart had a phone in his shoe. Don't recall ...

Re: Suitability of Dremel tool for slotting mild steel

It will. As you say, freehand is tough. Not that it can't be done, but the bit has a tendency to bite and jump. Takes a very steady and very firm hand. Given that, if you can force the position with the attachment you should be good to go. Just work slowly. Patience is a virtue and all that. Good lu...

Re: Yard knife

H-1 SpyderHawk is my yard worker. The bad news is, they are out of production. The good news is, Sal says the wheels are turning on a new batch. Exactly this! H1 Spyderhawk is incomparable and outstanding in every yardwork scenario. Serrated preferred but either works a treat. It's all I use and is...

Re: Is MSRP for disco'd/sprint runs fair pricing?

I pay msrp for everything if I am lucky... I live in Europe... But I get incomparable Czech beer for around 2 dollars and 40 cents for a six pack of one pounders so it balances out somewhat... Sad but true I'd take that trade off. Any day. Knife purchases happen occasionally but beer is a staple fo...

Re: Is MSRP for disco'd/sprint runs fair pricing?

Interesting post. To go the other way... A few years ago I posted a knife for sale. I'd never used it and it had been discontinued for several years. I listed it at a few dollars under what I'd paid for it, which I thought was a good deal for this particular model. A guy, who initially seemed intere...

Interesting you post this. I'm carrying my Opinel No 8 slim line ebony today. I love the blade shape and it's so lightweight for a 3+" blade. Blade is so thin. It's awesome.

The Cuyahoga river went through my backyard where I grew up. 8 miles from my house there were 2 fires on the river at different times down in the flats in Cleveland. Imagine a river catching fire! :) Haha, yeah, it did. I was here then as well. Still am (or more accurately, returned here about 20 y...
