Re: Why Don't You Like Framelocks?
I don't hate frame locks,
but my preference is
back
compression
button
axis
frame
liner
in that order.
On a well made knife they should all be safe or you need a fixed blade.

Re: Chaparral FRN - Best New Manual Folder 2018
I had my Chap for awhile now and have been gone on and on,
about how it is EDC perfection.
Sal is a design genius...what a mind.
Congrats!
Looking forward to even more variations of this great knife.
Micarta would be wonderful.

Spyderco does a great job with the finish on all their Ti models,
I've been waiting for this ...seems so logical.

Its fascinating how both the stepped models are exactly the same,
but different aspects jump out of each one differently.

Re: How much are you willing to spend on a Chinese made knife?
I buy China made knives and other things...I got no problem with that. Chinese computers are ubiquitous and set a high standard in the assembly industry. But a product like a USA made knife has a higher value than a China made knife.. there is a hard limit for me on what I would spend on a Chinese k...

Re: How much are you willing to spend on a Chinese made knife?
My point is that I don't think China can compete with high end USA makers Euro designers .. China is already there in terms of capability. ...no doubt that China makers can get materials and build something, to the same exact tolerances as anybody they want to. but its $ value is to a degree, dimis...

Re: China and tariffs
Straight up Sal, I have some pretty good knives of all sorts made in China that were a real bargain. I have enjoyed them... but I must say that for what ever reason tangible or intangible, I don't enjoy owning them as much as a knife with USA,Taiwan, Japan or Italy printed on it. If there were a inc...

Re: Two questions for Sal regarding the Chaparral design
Hey Rob, That stepped Ti has no curved lines. The entire design is made up of straight lines. Not only is the design unique, the machining is exquisite. sal Yes it is a jewel... I know you say you are much more concern with function than looks, and the Chap is all that... but this stepped Ti blue i...

Re: Two questions for Sal regarding the Chaparral design
I got my first Chap the stepped ti blu about a month ago. I usually prefer the Spyderco blades that drop a little..like the PM2, Delica, Endura, Manbug... much more than leaf shape Sage, Native, Manix But the blade shape on the Chap is one of the many things I love about this knife. The blade looks ...
