Salami isn't just made from meat. I'd guess you hit some coarse, dry pepper, a little bone fragment or something.

No, it wasn't you - like I have written, your minimal approach is the best thing I have seen so far, if you absolutely have to have the notch.

It's just that many proponents of the notch claim that you cannot sharpen the blade all the way w/o it.

About the "stress riser". I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying the entire blade snapped off where a notch was placed? I could only see this being an issue with very small blades which may be what you are talking about when you say "whittling" folders. Yes, the entire blade ...

I'm on the same page with Deacon and angus. Whoever might want those can easily add them later, but it is impossible to remove them (unless you grind down the rest of the blade). Also, they can act as a "stress riser" as I had to discover in one of my whittling folders, that snapped right ...

The WT philosophy is to basically sidestep and chain-punch the guy into not wanting to go to the ground anymore or chain-punching to get out of a hold. Like I said, if you can avoid going to the ground - good for you. But even the best may trip and fall over something or you might need to use a thro...

Here's my take on this. If there's more than one BG avoid going to the ground at all costs. Once you're down, chances are you'll get stomped. In one on one, taking it to the ground is a viable option if you are an experienced ground fighter. You can control larger and stronger BGs with the right tec...

Another random idea to adress the handle length issue, how about an extendable handle like on the Glock entrenching tool? Here's a pic: http://www.raeer.com/images/full/66263i-%C3%96sterr-Feldspaten-GL.gif Should also work with elliptic handles. Question is, will it hold up, ie not break or collapse...

we've got quite a few projects in-the-works and we don't like to move too fast or we screw things up and make mistakes. I think nobody would be satisfied with a sub-par product that hits stores next week. Taking the time to make things right is part of the :spyder: appeal for me. To further educate...

Well, you will soon see for youself, now that you're getting one.

For me it is one of the top 20 if not top 10 Spyderco designs: fit's my hand like a glove, has a solid locking mechanism and a useful blade shape.

You won't be disappointed.

I definitely try to get mine cheaper than MSRP which is no easy task here in good ol' Europe, but some of those scores are just obscene. EG: Temperance FBs - which I have been trying to get for <100? (~$132 as of today) for a mere $37.50 (~28.30?) each?! You should feel ashamed of yourselves n...
